More than 50 helmets from the two world wars were found to be only a few feet away from the Institute of Archaeology of the University of Wroclaw. Most of them were German M35 and M42 models built before and during World War II, but there were also some M16 models in World War I, two M38 Luftschutz helmets designed for German air defense, a W31 Polish helmet and a Soviet SSSZ36.

During the Nazi occupation of Poland, the barracks of the 8th signal battalion of the German army were located at this site.

Archaeologists believe that the helmets are stored on shelves, which is part of the military camp complex. They may not intend to be used for combat. Their variety and age and how they are arranged on the shelves show that the department uses them for air defense and fire protection.
