So, what exactly is sex therapy?
Sexual therapy has no contact. Instead, we explore the psychological, relationship, emotion, and sometimes medical aspects that may affect your sexual experience.
Whether you are dealing with different desires, erectile challenges, painful gender, lack of orgasm, sexual trauma, sexual behavior without controlling sexual behavior, or exploring all aspects of identity, direction or tangle – sex therapy is where these topics are not only welcome, but I am welcomed by menvited.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is about your hearing. We want to know what brings you in and what your treatment goals are. We must respect your time, energy and money. We want this place to feel safe as if you will get the help you need.
While we want to be goal-oriented and help you address your concerns, we also want to know your history. We want to learn something about your childhood, the community you raise, past sexual experiences, past psychiatry and medical history, any trauma that has happened, and anything you feel is important.
Sometimes it may take a meeting or two – but don’t worry, as we move forward, we will tell you exactly why we are asking certain questions and help you with how past experiences affect your current sex life.
Will we talk about sex in detail?
Yes – when you’re ready. We will use real language about real bodies and experiences. that is, how We talk about sex will always respect your level of comfort, your values and cultural background. Details are important, and they are often difficult to discuss due to the sexual shame in our culture. Many clients find that simply talking about sex, sexuality, and intimacy in a non-judgment space will think of any sexual problems they may encounter.
How long does it take?
it depends. Some people only attend a few meetings to solve specific problems. Others have been treated for a long-term treatment, especially if the problem is rooted in long-term or traumatic situations. There is no one that fits all schedules – the playback is not linear, and there is no rush to grow here.
Can I do my homework?
We will decide whether homework will be helpful to you and your specific questions. Working outside the treatment room often speeds up where you want to be.
We may recommend you explore books, podcasts, or coaching exercises between sessions. This may include self-reflective prompts, collaborative communication practices, or induction focus exercises (a series of steps based on no touch to rebuild connections to feelings and desires). All “homework” is collaborative and is by no means mandatory.
What if my sex, gender, or culture is ignored elsewhere?
Inclusive sexual therapy means recognizing how oppressive institutions (racism, competency, lipophobia, hybrid, agility) affect our sexual development and experiences. This means not asking you to leave your fragments outside the room.
