Unsung Heroes in Action – Generous Husbands

Unsung Heroes in Action – Generous Husbands

I talk a lot about serving others. Today I want to share with you some people who are doing just that in very real, practical ways. The name has been changed.

Mary is an old woman who can no longer drive. For years, Joe picked her up at her home, drove her to church and helped her from the car to her seat and back again. Lori and I thought Joe and Mary were related. But he’s not. He saw a need and took action to fill it.

Sally runs a coffee shop in Deer Park. One day when I was at Costco in Spokane I saw her pull up in a big truck. Several of her customers who didn’t drive got out of their cars. There is no public transportation from Deer Park to Spokane, so Sally provides public transportation to people she knows needs it.

I know other people who take elderly people shopping, or help them do their shopping. It’s not glamorous, and most of the time no one even knows they’re doing it. But they obeyed Jesus’ command to help the least among them.

During this season of giving, think about how you can help others. And then continue doing that next year.

Ten dollars on Tuesday: Speaking of giving, our year-end giving campaign is underway. Today is Ten Dollar Tuesday. If every reader donated ten dollars, we would miss our goal.
