When it comes to theft, anything can be taken… literally.

While the idea of stealing a two-dollar cock ring or box of condoms might make you roll your eyes, sex toy manufacturers and distributors incur significant losses every year — from patent infringement to routine shoplifting.

How come it’s so high?

Don’t forget that some adult products on the market cost hundreds of dollars each.

September 2019 – It was a busy day for Northamptonshire Police after thieves robbed a lorry carrying a whole consignment of adult toys between 1am and 6.30am.

The truck was parked on the A43 near the village of Broughton. It had been on a long journey from Felixstown, Suffolk, to the Rocks-Offs Ltd. headquarters in Kettering. However, the assailants cut the locks and made off with products worth £1 million ($1.3 million).

Twitter of course responded to the news with a bang…

  • “Police say they are looking for a repeat offender.”
  • “Nothing to arouse suspicion?”
  • “Police said they hope the criminals will come back quietly.”
  • “Why is this the title and not ‘Unlucky Truck’?”

The two women are wanted for theft, and a third woman is also wanted for questioning.

Everyone involved in all three incidents was captured on surveillance video.

Not the smartest bunch of people, right?

April 2019 – Imagine that you notice that things are missing from your home. Then you put them back… only to find that they are gone again.

This is what has happened to Tyndall residents for several years.

It wasn’t until the man and his wife installed surveillance cameras that they discovered a 25-year-old man, Brody Fuchs, sneaking in and out, speaking only for a few minutes at a time, and taking various sex toys. After searching Fuchs’ house, police found the items and charged him with second-degree burglary and possession of stolen property.

I don’t know what he’s going to do with all those teddy bears.

October 2017 – This was the biggest theft of sex toys at the time, worth up to £45,000. Although it has been overtaken by truck thefts in the UK, the annual Venus exhibition in Germany is still plagued by it.

Staff at Fun Toys in London were packing up their stall after the show. “When we arrived to load the products onto the truck, we discovered that … all the Fun Toy products, valued at over $60,000 (£45,000), had been stolen. … Only the brochures, bags and two sample boxes were left.”

That’s a lot of dildos.
