Review: The Magic in the CEPHALLUS Tentacle Dildo

With its mechanical look and tiny tapered tip, the CEPHALLUS isn’t just another tentacle dildo, Magic Within brings it to life with meticulous hand-painting, turning it into a spectacular blend of art and function.

Design and specifications

Based in the Czech Republic/Czech Republic, Magic Within’s crafts feature stunning engraved designs and extremely detailed hand-painting. Their toys feature mechanical and alien themes, with crisp sculpted details that enhance the sense of fantasy. I’ve previously reviewed their MERCIO, a mechanically enhanced human dildo.

CEPHALLUS, the first model they launched, depicts a tentacle made of wires and cables, covered in plates, extending from a metal base. Medium hardness 00-50, moderately soft, very flexible tip.

CEPHALLUS comes in a single size: 9″ tall (7″ usable length), with a maximum usable girth of 6.5″ circumference/2″ diameter. The website says the maximum circumference is 9.8 inches, but that’s at the very bottom of the shaft, which flares out significantly. you can perhaps Fitting another half inch beyond the available 7 inches brings you to 7.75 inches in circumference, but the shape isn’t easy to achieve.

The taper is gradual. 2 inches down from the tip, the circumference is 2.75 inches circumference/0.8 inches diameter. At 4 inches down, the circumference is 4.3 inches circumference/1.5 inches diameter. At 5 inches down, it jumps to about 5.5 inches circumference/1.8 inches diameter.

I requested a hand painted custom design with the design help of Magic Within. I specified a few colors I wanted to see and provided a photo for inspiration, after which they sent me some mockups. I picked one of them up and edited it myself, made some of the cables bronze, and Magic Within accepted it. The final model includes a dark turquoise gradient with a brown base, green glow and glow blocks near the base, bronze cables, and a hand-painted gold design on the sides of the base. All colors (except glow) are required to be metallic or shimmery.

Below is the model next to the inspiration image (drawn by Craig Mullins) and next to the toy itself.

The end result is very good compared to the model; I’d say about 95%. When not illuminated, the blocks are less saturated and the green fade is very subtle, but otherwise the hand-drawing is clean and the visuals are spot on. I also love this particular shimmery green color.

To my delight, I received the Squidward (also known as CEPHALLUS) with hand-painted details. Very cute.

I also received a custom-made large ÅLTHORION for review, a surprise leather case, and two satin bags with the brand’s logo. These bags are great for preventing lint and don’t shed at all. One bag can hold CEPHALLUS and ÅLTHORION, or should be able to hold 2-3 typical medium-sized toys.

CEPHALLUS single color customization starts at €90/$95. A detailed customization like mine costs €190/$200. For single color customizations, Magic Within works with the customer to determine which pigments to use, so there are many options.

In use (vagina)

The top half of the CEPHALLUS is sturdy enough and textured enough for me to feel it in the first few inches, which is where I’m most sensitive. The tapered tip is too thin for me to feel it deeper inside, but this is typical of thin dildos for me. For the few inches I can feel, I like to enjoy it quickly with plenty of lube, the outside of the curve resting against my front wall. The gentle pressure and moderate texture rubbed nicely against the front wall of my entrance. While I usually prefer the waistline, this wasn’t enough to turn me off, but I like it more than I thought I would.

The curves gave me the sensation of tentacles wiggling inside me. I have never experienced this with my other tentacle dildos. It doesn’t actually wiggle, but the feeling is really easy to imagine, especially if I rotate it a little while inserting. This feeling only occurs when moving slowly.

The tip is thin and flexible, making it difficult to insert, even vaginally, but it’s easy to guide manually with your hand on the tip. Even though the tip is thin, it doesn’t feel cramped. I only felt some discomfort when I pushed deeper and happened to hit my cervix, but it’s flexible enough that it only caused me slight discomfort.

One side of the dildo has metal plates that are layered on top of each other, while the other side has metal bands that sit on wires and ropes. The plate is surprisingly mild on one side; the hard-looking edges stick out enough to feel some nice texture, but they don’t stick out too much and don’t feel uncomfortable.

In terms of wires, the main thing I felt was the straps, which had an enhanced feel to them. It feels smooth, more like a bump than the noisy texture of some heavily textured dildos. The line side provides constant stimulation, while the board side is more staggered.

Considering the way the straps act as a cushion for the strong wire texture, I would consider CEPHALLUS to be medium textured rather than highly textured.

My favorite part of the dildo is about three-quarters of the way down, turned so that the area where the edge of the plate meets the wires presses against my front wall. The curves and texture of the section fit my favorite areas perfectly, along with the girth I crave. It’s thick enough to give me comfortable padding at the entrance, despite the feeling of lack of padding deep inside.

The base is easy to hold but difficult to push in depending on the position. I like to lean back when thrusting, but I have to lean further back than normal so the base doesn’t hit anything I’m sitting on. It’s good for thrusting, but better for riding, and stays in place well thanks to the wider base.

Turning it upside down on the base, I could rub against the tip, and the wire side had a really nice curve and texture to it.

Comprehensive

The CEPHALLUS from Magic Within is a beautifully designed tentacle dildo that has been expertly hand-painted, adding an extra layer of realism. The texture is pleasant and well placed, and the curves actually make it feel like it’s crawling along part of its length. I find it’s best suited for riding rather than pushing.

While it felt padded at the entrance once I reached a certain girth, it lacked padding deeper inside, and it was too thin to provide enough pressure for G-spot stimulation or deeper anterior wall stimulation.

CEPHALLUS may suit those who like tapered models and tentacles or robot fantasies, especially those who prefer a medium texture. The texture is gentler than the tentacle dildo I own that has a suction cup. As a work of art, it’s spectacular.
