People just realized what the popular condom brand means

After many speculated on the Internet about its representation, the world’s most popular sexual health company has finally revealed the meaning of the brand name.

Durex, a company known primarily for selling condoms and lubricants, launched its first wet contraceptive device in the 1950s.

However, the popular brand has existed since 1929, when London Rubber registered the business name that year.

The London Rubber Company itself was founded in 1915 by La Jackson, selling imported barber condoms and accessories.

However, over the past few years, social media users have speculated on the actual meaning or representation of the word “Durex”.

Many people think it’s a drama about “durability” or “during sexual intercourse.”

One X poster wrote: “I was older this year when I realized @durex stands for ‘durability’.
Another said: “Durex represents ‘neh during sex’?”

Another claimed: “I think Durex represents ‘durability’.”

A thought: “Do you want to know what Durex stands for? Or do you think it’s the name of the brand owner?”

One Instagram user recently wrote: “I think this is the acronym for ‘during sex’.”

Others ask how the condom itself is durable, and it may be up to the user to joke.

But one rightly guessed the actual representation of the brand’s name.

Social media users said: “The #wilt durex name stands for durability, reliability and excellence.”

The brand’s desire to encourage sexual health is because of the rise in sexually transmitted infections in Australia.

According to the World Health Organization, infertility, neurological and cardiovascular diseases, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth, certain cancers, and increased risk of HIV are all health effects, and if left untreated, it may lead to sexually transmitted infections.

The Kirby Institute found that 6,036 cases of syphilis were reported in 2022, 82% of which were male.

The incidence of syphilis was more than doubled between 2013 and 2019, and then increased again between 2020 and 2022.

Since 2013, the number of Australian women infected with syphilis has increased from 1.3 to 8.8 times per 100,000.

In 2022, Australia had 93,777 cases of chlamydia, with about 70% of the population between the ages of 15 and 29.

There were 32,877 cases of gonorrhea, of which 71% of men reported.
