New York attractions rank among the top dating spots in the U.S.

Ever since the invention of the automobile, couples have been enjoying some romantic one-on-one time in the back seat—often by driving to their favorite scenic spots to set the mood.

Amber Brooks, editor-in-chief of DatingNews.com, says if you’re dating and just want to get to know that person you want to get closer to, choosing the right venue is crucial.

“You can’t just drive into the parking lot and expect your date to be excited,” the expert chides.

“Planning is the most important thing to make a date a success,” she said. “Find a beautiful spot, pack a picnic, put on some music, and make memories together.”

The site polled 3,000 Americans, asking them to kiss and publicly recommend their favorite lover’s routes — and three Empire State Building spots made the passionate list.

The Adirondacks ranked 39th, Niagara Falls 77th and Bear Mountain 141st.

Still, no New York attraction can beat Hawaii’s Hana Highway — this popular Maui scenic route took the number one spot on the list.

The winding 64.4-mile road connects the towns of Hana and Kauai, with plenty of places to stop along the way to take in the stunning views—provided you surface for some fresh air between kisses.

If the weather gets hot, there are even waterfall plunge spots you can jump in to cool off.

Meanwhile, on the mainland, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, was named the second best place for a kiss.

The iconic “smog” fog rising from the top of the mountain sets the mood for a steamy car trip.

For those looking to climb to a higher elevation, Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs, Colorado, was ranked as the third most worthwhile climbing destination.

The 19-mile route to the 14,000-foot summit provides couples with plenty of stops, whether for a romantic picnic at Crowe Gulch or some fishing at Crystal Creek Reservoir.

“Dating locations are a time-honored part of dating culture, immortalized in films, songs, and stories,” the researchers wrote.

“One thing is for sure: American couples love to enjoy romance in secluded, scenic locations across the country.”
