Keio Plaza Hotel installs train simulation game in guest rooms

Train Simulator Games

Keio Electric Railway Co. is integrating its two major business units. Starting this week, the train operator and hotel group will install “Keio Train Simulator,” the company’s proprietary train driving simulator software, in its hotel rooms.

For train fans everywhere

It may seem like a silly marketing gimmick, but the company cares most about its loyal customers. The simulator is designed to be enjoyable for train fans of all ages, from kids who love trains to adults who ride them every day. The program utilizes real train footage, allowing anyone who uses it to experience what it’s like to travel along the Keio Line as if they were the train driver themselves.

Real experience

Keio Electric Railway seems to have gone to great lengths to create as realistic an experience as possible. There are multiple trains to choose from, with three levels for beginners and advanced drivers, running from Shinjuku Station to Takaosanguchi Station. The voices of the drivers and conductors in the game are provided by former train driver and railway talent Hibiki Takeshi and train talent Masumi Toyoka. For a truly immersive experience, players can also try a mode that lets them call out stops and signals themselves.

A stroke of genius, or just too tacky to be cool? Japan certainly has no shortage of train nerds, and many probably enjoy relaxing in their hotel rooms to the sounds of imaginary trains. For travelers to Japan, we can at least guarantee there’s nothing like it anywhere else in the world.

Where to experience Train Simulator Room

at the moment, Keio Plaza Hotel Hachioji It seems to be the only hotel that sells rooms for Keio Trains. However, if you don’t need a staycation, you can also check out the Keio Esports Lab in Nagafu, where simulators are also installed.
