Can a 1.75 in diameter dildo work with a 2 in diameter O…

I’m wondering if a larger o ring for a slightly smaller dildo would still work effectively. Like would it slip all around and not have enough grip?
I like this specific dildo but I also want this harness that has 1.5 in and 2 in o rings on it…. Any advice/experience on this? Or would I HAVE to have a 1.75 in O ring in or to effectively use my new strap?
