Bride leaves fiancé on wedding day – claims she doesn’t

Better late than never.

A young bride-to-be from the Midwest woke up next to her fiancé on the day of her planned $40,000 wedding and decided it was time to dump him.

Alexis Saya, of Huntington, Indiana, went to bed the night before excited about what she said would be a “beautiful” celebration of love.

But when the big day arrives, she finds herself faced with a surprising realization—she’s not happy.

The 24-year-old, who has a child with her husband-to-be, said they were high school sweethearts and began dating when they were 16.

According to Saya, the two were “young” and “stupid” and got pregnant on purpose and got engaged in 2020, despite their on-again, off-again marriage.

It was a rocky romance that lasted from 2019 until their big day was canceled in April 2023.

“I knew I wasn’t happy in the relationship,” she admits. “I always try to convince myself that I do it because I love him.”

Finally, faced with the prospect of an unhappy future, she took action.

“It was about 6 o’clock in the morning and I said ‘Sorry, we can’t get married today,'” Saya told JFK News.

“I didn’t want to do it, but I knew I had to,” she continued, but added, “It’s the best decision I’ve ever made, even though it’s hard to accept. It was not a good relationship to begin with. ”

Saya has since shared some sordid details about the breakup to her more than 15,000 TikTok viewers. In one post, she called her child’s father an “abuser.”

“After my daughter was born, we broke up a few times and got back together a few times,” Saya explained. “I think I have three or four rings in total because we broke up so many times.”

“I said, ‘We’re not getting married today,'” and she remembers telling the groggy groom the news.

“He looked at me and said, ‘What are you talking about?’ I said, ‘Do you really think this is a marriage?'”

The bride’s baby daddy wasn’t the only fiancé caught off guard by the day’s abandonment.

Kayley Stead, a 27-year-old Welsh woman, was left shocked and “sobbing” when her groom did not show up for her wedding in September 2022 and left her standing alone at the altar.

Jilted bride Andrea Noel admitted she became “unhinged” after her groom-to-be broke up with her that same month.

In an act of virtual revenge, the content creator took to social media to slam the guy, revealing his many shortcomings – which included sleeping with his sister.

“I love him so much,” Noel said in the viral TikTok. “And I’ve convinced myself [he] The best I could get. “

After delivering the painful news, Saya and her daughter Avir fled to her mother’s home.

“I cried all day. It was horrible,” Shaye said. “It’s harder for me than it is for him. You’re giving up everything you’ve ever known.”

“I was a stay-at-home mom at the time, so I had nothing,” she added. “I had no job and no money of my own. Everything was his.”

But Saya’s biggest concern was the five-figure criticism from family and friends – her mother – for their lavish party.

“When you make a decision like this, you think everyone is going to hate you,” Saya said. “That’s how I felt. I thought I was going to lose my mom because she paid for the wedding. I was scared.”

Almost immediately after the wedding, the runaway bride felt a pang of regret.

“I remember it was about 3 p.m. and I was thinking, ‘I’m married now,'” she said. “I was in a really bad place after the wedding.”

“I couldn’t believe I actually made this decision. I regretted it for a long time,” Shaye revealed.

“And then I was really happy that I did it.”

Recently, she shared a series of selfies online.

The post, which has received more than 144,000 views, included a photo of her tear-stained face taken on the day of her canceled wedding. Another was a snapshot of a smiling face that read “It’s been 16 months now.”

“It’s something I’ll always carry with me and a trauma I think I’ll always carry,” Saye said. “But I found better ways to cope and deal with it.”

“I think it was the absolute best decision for me and my daughter,” insists the mom, who considers her children to be the “biggest reason” for her freedom from toxicity.

“It got to the point where it wouldn’t be fair if I couldn’t do that for her,” Saya asserted. “This is her only childhood, and I’m in charge of it.”

But her reasons for ending the relationship on her wedding day remain unclear.

“People are going to think that just because I said I left on my wedding day, ‘she must not care or be able to do anything,'” Shaye scoffed, clarifying that the decision to stop bashing her was “horrible.”

“Even my own family said, ‘Well, why did you wait?'” she said. “I literally went to bed that night thinking I was going to wake up and get married.”

“I would never have chosen this day. I never did anything malicious to him,” she vowed. “I never wanted to hurt him.”

Despite confused questions from critics, Saya’s virtual supporters praised her for her “courageous” move.

After the storm, she now begins to find peace.

“Every time I see him, I’m reminded of why I left,” Saya said.

“I always wonder sometimes when it’s late at night and I’m lying in bed and I feel lonely and I’m like, ‘Oh, I wish my family was back,'” she said, acknowledging the fleeting moments in those sad moments Fleetingly, all she could think about was the “good times” they had together.

“Then I saw him again and it reminded me again that all the bad outweighed all the good,” Saya said. “That’s why I left.”

Saya hopes to one day marry her perfect partner and have more children, and she encourages others to follow their heart in matters of the heart.

“I would tell anyone if you have a question about whether you should leave, then you should leave,” she said. “It might be the best decision you ever make.”

“Leaving was the hardest thing. I still can’t believe I did it,” Saya said.

“It’s hard sometimes, but I have to remind myself that I will find someone who loves me and my daughter,” she said.

“I can’t wait to get married one day. I can’t wait to have more kids.”
