A marketing agency recently raised eyebrows when it unveiled a six-month benefit to its employees.
Thailand’s Whiteline Group has announced it will offer paid “Tinder leave” to its employees to explore dating options on the app.
Starting in July and until the end of the year, companies will be able to pay for employees’ dates as part of a move to boost employee well-being.
The video showed female employees sitting in a conference room as company leadership announced the move.
Staff were surprised and excited by the news, with one staff member sharing a video showing how she used the scheme to get a date during the day.
The date consisted of a walk in the park while the woman’s lover fed her watermelon on a skewer.
It all started when an employee complained that he was too busy to date, so he launched Tinder Leave.
However, employees don’t just get to take days and nights off to meet potential suitors. Whiteline Group also pays for six-month subscriptions to Tinder Gold and Tinder Platinum for its employees.
Tinder Gold allows users to see which profiles like them, they have unlimited likes, and can match with people from all over the world.
Meanwhile, Tinder Platinum allows users to send a note with every like, your profile will appear faster to people you like, and you’ll become one of the most popular profiles in your area for 30 minutes every month.
The idea is that if customers find “the one,” their productivity and happiness will increase.
The Whiteline Group manager also said some studies have shown that being in a relationship increases happiness, making work more enjoyable.
A 2023 study by Brendon McConnell of the University of Southampton found that “married people earn higher hourly wages than single people, the so-called marriage wage premium.”
“For men, the link between marriage and wages is long established, while for women, the relationship has evolved over the past few decades from a penalty to a reward,” the study noted.
