Working Step 6 – Sex and Relationship Healing

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.

Step 6 reads: “We were entirely ready to have God remove our defects of character.” At this point, many of us find ourselves wondering how we are supposed to become entirely ready to have our Higher Power (however we define that) remove our character defects? The answer is that we probably can’t and won’t. The best we can really hope for is to try to become entirely ready. If we make an honest effort in this regard and continue that effort on a regular basis, the process gets easier. But no one has ever worked Step 6 to perfection, and no one ever will.
