Why did my dildo melt?

*

I washed all of my non-mechanical toys and left them on the side of the tub to dry, then put them all in the blender (I don’t know if you spell that) basket and one of them had melted and part of the toy was sticky and looked like I had dragged it over a hot radiator or something like that, even though there was no heat source around it and my other toys were all intact. It’s been a few years so I don’t know if the material has broken down or what it’s made of, but it feels the same as my other dildos. I’ve washed it the same way god knows how many times and never had this problem. Also, will it stay as long as I use it with condoms or should I just throw it out.

don’t use a condom with it! here’s why: [Condoms with Sex Toys: Safe, or NOT?](https://phallophilereviews.com/condoms-and-sex-toys-safety/) (from Phallophile Reviews)

it’s time to throw it out, along with any other toys made of the same stuff, and purchase something new made of body-safe material

Some sex toy materials degrade when touching other specific materials, maybe when you put them all in the basket together by chance the dildo that melted was touching a dildo of a material that made it melt. It’s happened to me before.

Because it’s made of (probably) toxic material that you shouldn’t put inside you, silicones are inert, thermoplastic elastomers are not (eh, kinda, this is an over-simplification). Don’t put non-plat cure silicone inside you and everything will be good. That is to say, yes, throw it away, don’t keep it.

Sounds like the regular jelly/tpe/whatever unsafe and porous material thing, they do that. Get silicone and they last basically forever, I have some that are over a decade old that still look like new despite heavy use.
