Tokyo is no stranger to zany installations, whether they’re for art or just cool advertising for an evocative brand. The latest, fluffiest foray into this space is a radio production called “Eye of the Monster.”

Meet Shibuya’s Monster Eyes

“Monster Eyes” is a 3D optical illusion currently operated by Pandora Vision. This piece of art is a new landmark character for Shibuya Center Street and looks like a giant monster living inside the building. The production company of “Monster Eye” is Omnibus Japan Inc. The company also created the award-winning “Cats of Shinjuku Higashi” for Cross Shinjuku Vision.

Despite how large and intimidating the monster is, it’s still clearly an infant peering down curiously from its vantage point. It likes to look at people with interest and prefers people of all ages and genders who come to Shibuya. Just like children, little monsters are sensitive to stimulation and always looking for new buildings and trends. The monster does have a shy side, though, and you’ll sometimes find it sitting with its back to the crowd.
