Throuple claims visiting in-laws at Christmas can be awkward

When visiting the in-laws, it was crowded with just three people.

A Northern Colorado trio going viral for their unusual arrangement admits that returning home for Christmas can be very “awkward.”

“As a family of three, we sometimes face challenges spending time with our family during the holidays,” Alana, 27, one of the three in the relationship, told Jam Press.

The sticky situation began when she and Kevin, 33, had been dating for five years when they decided to find a third musketeer so he could explore her “bisexual curiosities”. So they joined threesome dating app 3Fun, which is when they met Megan, 37.

The budding trio quickly hit it off and formed their current trio, which they now call “Camp Throuple” on Instagram, where they have over 200,000 followers.

While a polyamorous couple sharing a king-size bed have managed to triple the fun, they’ve run into some problems, like visiting three sets of in-laws over Christmas.

Alana said they often experienced “misunderstandings and awkward moments from people who were less familiar with our relationship.”

“Whenever we attend festivals together, all eyes are definitely on us,” Alana said. “Whether people already knew about our relationship or were meeting us for the first time, you could often feel the tension in the room.”

Luckily, they’ve figured out a way to avoid Christmas stress – by doing Christmas visits digitally.

“Since we live in another state, we won’t be spending the holidays with our families in person,” Arana said. “We do video calls or send gifts and plan visits for other times of the year.”

She added, “This helps avoid the stress of splitting time and allows us to enjoy the holidays together.”

Instead, the trio will spend Christmas Day going to the movies and then hanging out at home snuggled up in matching onesies.

The only pressing question is who will be the spoon in the middle. “We rotate every night!” Kevin said. “We use the MAK and cheese method to keep things in order.”

She added, “It just means Megan, Alana and Kevin — that’s how we remember who’s in the middle, just the order in which we rotate.”

Meghan said their pastime ultimately proves that “the holidays don’t have to look a certain way to be meaningful” and that “the most important thing is the love and intention behind how we spend them.”

“Being able to create new traditions together has been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey for the three of us,” she declares.

Kevin claims haters sometimes tell them they’re going “straight to hell,” but he’s not worried about them because “Santa Claus doesn’t discriminate.”
