The city’s newest urban shelter
While Tokyo has no shortage of luxury hotels, Janu Tokyo stands out. Established less than two years ago, this is where Janu, the latest brand of Aman Group, was built. Janu is a young, city-loving sibling of the famous luxury hotel group, known for ultra-premium service and blissfully tranquil accommodations.
Located in Azabudai Hills, an impressive complex that incorporates greenery and design and aims to be a “modern urban village”, Janu has been designed with connection in mind, with ample wellness and social spaces. If Aman Tokyo is a tranquil private sanctuary, Hotel Yanu Tokyo has a more lively feel – a place far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, drawing energy from the surrounding city and with many places to mingle.

life big
Upon entering Janu’s soaring gallery entrance, guests are immediately immersed in the hotel’s unique worldview. One of the most striking things about Janu Tokyo is its size. Designed by Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston Architects, it offers an impressive sense of spaciousness in a city where space is the ultimate luxury.
The arrivals area features a granite welcome counter, with stunning views of Tokyo Tower from the floor-to-ceiling windows opposite the counter. Thoughtful design details throughout the space blend European and Japanese influences. At the entrance, wainscot-like wall paneling sits alongside intricate lattice millwork and braided rope details inspired by the shurien nosu, a sacred rope in Japanese culture. Rooms and public spaces are elegant and stylish, decorated in understated tones to create a warm and relaxing feel.
Janu’s 122 rooms and suites (from 55 sqm) provide you with breathing room. Balconies face the sculptural landscape of terraced greenery and Mount Azabutai, and many rooms offer views of Tokyo Tower rising above the cityscape. The community itself, created by Pelli Clarke & Partners and Thomas Heatherwick, enhances the hotel’s feel as a sophisticated urban resort: an area filled with courtyards, boutiques and winding pathways that feels like an urban hillside enclave.

A landmark approach to health
Of all that Janu has to offer, its vast wellness center is probably one of the biggest draws. At 4,000 square meters, it is one of the largest facilities of its kind in the city and is divided into two clear areas: one dedicated to fitness and performance, the other for rest and recovery.
There are enough active areas to make any fitness enthusiast rejoice. The 340-square-metre gym features state-of-the-art equipment and five exercise studios, including a spinning studio, a full boxing ring, a golf simulator and a spacious yoga and Pilates studio.
Just beyond the fitness area, the spa and hot springs area offers a more tranquil feel. The room features a 25-meter swimming pool, a jacuzzi next to the fireplace, and rows of lounge chairs for quiet conversation. In the dressing area, guests can relax in the Japanese public bath, cold plunge pool and sauna. Or you can book one of two private spas. Each spa features treatment rooms, a living space with a sofa bed, outdoor terraces, hot and cold hammams, and a hammam or hammam (traditional Russian steam bath) with sauna expert-guided treatments.
Art also serves as subtle commentary throughout the space. Vibrant Irena Orlov canvases bring energy to the fitness area, while Haruko Tsuji’s wave pieces and Naoto Kashiwagi’s sculptural pieces echo the movement of the water around the pool.
Dining Connection
Food is where Janu fully integrates its social DNA. With seven restaurants and a bar, the hotel is almost like its own food court. In stark contrast to the peaceful oasis of the wellness center, these spaces take on a vibrant atmosphere, creating a perfect environment for partying.
At the center of this scene is Janu Mercato, a sunny, all-day dining emporium inspired by Italian market halls. Floor-to-ceiling windows bathe the marble counters in natural light, while a towering olive tree artwork stands majestically in the dining room. The restaurant’s three open kitchens add a sense of drama: fresh pasta is rolled and cut before your eyes, sparkling displays of fresh-to-order seafood and charcuterie and cheeses carved to your liking. The atmosphere is warm and convivial, perfect for lively lunches and evening drinks on the pet-friendly terrace overlooking the gardens.
In addition to Mercato, the hotel’s dining spaces also feature unique features: Iigura, an omakase counter wrapped in wood and slatted screens; Hu Jing, a colorful lacquered space serving contemporary Chinese fine dining; Janu Grill, a barbecue joint with a distinctly Western flair; and Sumi, a sumibiyaki (charcoal grill) annex with a riveted copper counter. The hotel’s in-house patisserie, Janu Patisserie, is perfect for indulging in a sweet tooth any time of day, while the Janu Bar is one of the hotel’s many crown jewels. Located in the entrance lounge on the fifth floor, it provides an unforgettable backdrop for enjoying one of the best views of Tokyo Tower while enjoying specialty cocktails.

accommodation lifestyle
Ultimately, Janu is designed to be a place that expands your daily life, your social world, and your sense of well-being. It balances Tokyo’s vibrant energy with a genuine sense of calm, leaning into understanding how much tourists (and increasingly locals) want to navigate this densely populated metropolis: prioritizing wellness and carving out a space for inspiration.
The result is a property that functions both as a hotel and as a lifestyle framework. Janu’s vision extends beyond rooms and amenities to influence how guests move around during their stay and ultimately how they view their daily lives once they return home.
