Singles are dating for dinner as wallets tighten

Love may not be on the menu – but lobster certainly isn’t.

With wallets tightening and imminent decline, some singles turned their first date into a free dinner scam.

Countless Tiktokkers proudly document their foodies, using hinges and Doordash like doordash – eating on someone else’s dime.

This is called a “food call” – someone in the pitiful juice of picking up a check without a plan, texting or date.

A “food call” is when someone has zero meals when he or she is going to make a phone call, text, or date a poor juice that pays the bill. nejron photos – stock.adobe.com

South Carolina-based graphic designer Katheryne Slack told Marketwatch in a recent interview that she realized she had a coffee a Sunday and used a thirsty hinge game to score caffeine.

Slack Outta Bean and full of schemes, hit her suitors for free cup O’Joe.

The two exchanged frivolous news a few days ago, but the plan was in a dilemma – until she finally pounced as she lined up. An hour later, they were drinking lattes at his fee in the cafe.

“Once I met him, I knew I didn’t like him. But I was already there and needed my coffee.”

And, far from the only one to see this way, Tiktok is full of cheeky users who boast about “dating for dinner”, a budget “hacker”.

In a recent video, user @JocelyNeleenaa can be seen on the restaurant table. In the white text on the clip, she wrote, “When you continue dating free food and drinks.”

Another user commented under tiktok: “Once I’ve never been hungry, I did this for 2 weeks in a row.” Another added: “I feel you.”

Some people joke that back-to-back dates are the version of their meals. User @alanarixonn filmed his own dance last month, titled “Second date this week, cos i cba to for fir x prep x.”

One viewer wrote under the video: “This is no joke fact.” Others replied: “It’s like a voucher because you’re putting in the work. You deserve the queen.”

Another supporter of “It’s a low-key genius” pointed out, “love to do this #ThinkSmarterNotharder.”

The purpose of a date is to bite free food, which is nothing new. A study published in the 2019 in the journal “Association for Personality and Social Psychology” talks about “Gourmet.”

The study found that as many as one-third of women admit to being free.

According to the researchers, anyone who believes that eating and dashing emotionally is more likely to show signs of narcissism, psychosis and Machiavelliism – also known as the “Dark Triad.”

With high rents and endless buzzing restaurants, New York City can think of it as a foodie.

Olivia Balsinger, a local in East Village, once captured a five-course feast in the hot seafood hotspots of the meat packaging area, all for someone else’s dime.

“If I were forced to pay, I might not be able to eat in those weeks,” she told the Post.

Overall, while “dinner dates” aren’t entirely novel, there are now tough measures as tariffs bite into the wallet, the shaking growth of the recession, and job security feels more shaky than ever.
