Rich bronze jewelry found in Latte buried near Prague –
Twenty-five miles northwest of Prague, the grave of a young woman from the LaTène era with a rich collection of bronze jewelry was found. The style of jewelry can be traced back to tombs in the 4th century BC
Archaeologist Olomouc from the Archaeology Center excavated the planned highway expansion route between February and October 2024. So far, rescue excavations have unearthed 467 archaeological remains, including 15 graves, covering thousands of years from the Neolithic Age to the early days.
The grave of a young woman aged about 20 to 30 was found near the town of Slaný. She wore a pair of bracelets and anklets, with wide terminals, two bronze rings and a Dukkov-type fibula bronchial in a fixed garment by the Celtics of the Rathane period. Each piece has a different decoration.
Of the 15 funerals, 5 were from wired cultures (3000 BC-3000 BC). Two of the five children’s graves, one of which is arranged
It has important products, including drilled teeth and miniature axes, probably carved from larger axes. The child died from three to five years old. Another child is older, between the ages of nine and 12, and has been buried with a big harpoon. His skeletal remains were in poor condition and seemed to be intentionally disturbed, which was likely part of his ritual practice after his burial.
Other notable objects recovered in the excavation include a set of drilled teeth that may be strung on organic ropes or hung directly on clothes in a wired steel tomb grave, an early Latane bronze belt belt with snake design, and ceramic containers from the later Bronze Age. Chemical analysis showed fat and wax marks on the edge of the blood vessels. Archaeologists believe it may have been used as a fermentation container, but further analysis is needed to determine its original usage.
Recycled artifacts are now being inspected and saved. Human remains, including the bones of the young woman, will be subjected to a stable isotope analysis to determine whether she was born in the region or raised elsewhere. DNA will be extracted from her bones for comparison with other tombs found in the area. This will reveal any family relationship between the deceased.
A series of artifacts will be provided to the public during a speech at the Kvíc winery on November 8.
