Design

The We-Vibe Rave 2 is the new rendition of the highly popular We-Vibe Rave. I reviewed the original Rave 8 years ago (wow, have I really been around that long?). At the time, I considered it a physically quirky design, one that was unique and effective. It was one I could turn to time and time again. It’s still available in some places, but it’s getting rarer to find and I was curious to see if the Rave 2 is as good as the original or *gasp* even better?

The We-Vibe Rave 2 is a G-spot vibrator with two motors, a silky silicone waterproof construction, a rechargeable battery, and a fascinating asymmetrical design.

Instead of thrusting the Rave 2 in and out (like you would with a typical G-spot vibrator), the Rave 2 is designed to be twisted side to side, thereby never losing contact with the G-spot.

Comparing the We-Vibe Rave and the We-Vibe Rave 2

It’s bendy! The biggest difference between the We-Vibe Rave and the We-Vibe Rave 2 is that you can now BEND the shaft. Whaaa? The adjustable hind allows you to take the shaft from a gently sloping angle to a near-90° angle.

Two motors, not one. The original design had one strong motor; the We-Vibe Rave 2 has TWO strong motors. One is located near the middle/hinge area of the shaft, and the other is located near the head.

Stronger than the original. I don’t have my original Rave with me right now, but We-Vibe says this is stronger than the original and, from what I can remember, I think they’re right.

New colours: The We-Vibe Rave 2 comes in two fun colours: pink and blue. The pink is a warm, deep raspberry tone, and the blue is a cool robin blue shade. The original only came in a dark purple (literally my least favourite sex toy colour ever), and I find these new tones really refreshing.

How to Use the We-Vibe Rave 2

1. There are 5 buttons on the We-Vibe Rave 2
2. To turn the We-Vibe Rave 2 on, press and hold the (+) button. Tap (+) and (–) to increase and decrease vibration strength. There are 10 strength levels.
3. Press the (>) and (<) buttons to cycle through the 10 vibration patterns.
4. Tap the (~) button once to use the motor midway down the shaft (around the vaginal entrance).
5. Tap the (~) button again to activate the motor near the end of the shaft (G-spot area)
6. Tap the (~) button a third time to use both motors at once.
7. To turn it off, press and hold the (–) button.

Packaging

We-Vibe’s packaging never disappoints. The outer box is aesthetically simple, but feels luxurious in your hands with its heavy weight and silky matte texture.

Inside the box, you will find the Rave 2, a magnetic charger, a quick user guide, a booklet on safety information, and a fabric drawstring pouch.

Material and Care

The We-Vibe Rave 2 is coated in silky silicone, making this toy bodysafe.

The Rave 2 is also waterproof (IPX7), so cleaning is easy. We-Vibe recommends rinsing it with warm water and a toy cleaner, and then drying it with a lint-free cloth. I simply wash mine with warm, soapy water before and after each use and let it air-dry.

If you’d like to add lubricant (which I always recommend), try a good quality, water-based lubricant. Don’t use any silicone-based lubricants as they could damage the silicone finish.

To charge, attach the magnetic end of the charging cable to your Rave 2 and plug it into your computer or USB wall adapter. A full charge will take about 90 minutes. While it’s charging, a light will blink; that light becomes solid when it’s fully charged. A full charge gives you up to 2 hours of playtime.

This comes with a 2-year warranty against defects through We-Vibe, so you have some peace of mind there.

My Experience with the We-Vibe Rave 2

I was worried that the We-Vibe Rave 2 would be a superficial re-skin to capitalize on the original’s success. Fortunately, I was wrong.

The twisted pleasure is still as pleasurable as ever. The asymmetrical design feels markedly different from other types of sex toys — kind of unpredictable, and oh-so-novel. When paired with a good-quality clitoral vibrator (like this or this), I’m able to have some incredible orgasms with the Rave 2.

Unsurprisingly, the We-Vibe Rave 2 has fantastic vibrations — it’s again wonderfully strong and powerful. I love the additional motor — being able to choose if I want vibrations close to my entrance or on my G-spot (or both!) is fantastic. I usually want both on, but if you have carpel tunnel or arthritis and are sensitive to vibrations in your hand, you can always turn off the motor that’s closer to the handle (the middle one) to lessen them.

For external (clitoral use), I turn on the G-spot motor at the head and use this as a kind of wand.

Surprisingly, when BOTH motors are going at once, there’s no drop in strength in either of the two motors. Sometimes when there are two motors in a sex toy, they inevitably affect each other and cause a drop in strength in one or both motors when it tries to multitask, but this issue isn’t present here.

I was sceptical about the We-Vibe Rave 2’s bending hinge — bendable toys are almost universally a bad experience for me because they inevitably bend out of the desired position as I thrust. And that would happen here too, if I thrusted with the Rave 2, but it’s not designed for thrusting — it’s designed for twisting. And guess what? The bent position DOESN’T bend out of its new angle when I twist it. This means I can bend this into a sharp angle so the shaft will really dig against my G-spot, and then I can apply that additional pressure as I twist without it unbending itself. Finally!

Let’s see, what else? Noise-wise, there are no complaints from me. We-Vibe’s toys are usually pretty quiet, and the Rave 2 is no exception. I’m not worried about the motors being overheard through walls or a closed door.

I generally love nitpicking sex toys and complaining about them but I’m honestly struggling to come up with shortcomings here. So I’ll just leave it at that!

We-Vibe Rave 2 Review – Overall Thoughts

We-Vibe has improved on their original design. The We-Vibe Rave 2 is a great update. I love the bendy hinge (and how it doesn’t unbend itself during twisting play). The additional motor gives me more versatility and freedom. The new colour options are WAY better than the original dull purple that the Rave 1 had. And, most importantly, the Rave 2 delivers me strong, rumbly vibrations and subsequent orgasms.
