design
The $85 Nala Wand is a powerful, full-size wand vibrator from Maia.
At first glance, it looks like a pretty standard, typical wand. It has a wide, oval-shaped head for wide clitoral pleasure. It has a flexible neck surrounded by a decorative shiny band. The body/handle is long and streamlined, showing only the Maia logo and 3 control buttons.
However, there are two things that make the Maia Nala wand different from most other wands on the market:
- It’s waterproof and submersible! Alas! This is quite rare for a full size wand and is a huge selling point in my opinion. Who wouldn’t want to take a relaxing bubble bath with candles, a glass of wine, and a powerful wand vibrator?
- It has two power options: wireless or wired. You can charge the battery and use it as a cordless/rechargeable wand. Alternatively, you can plug it into the wall and it will draw power that way; this is handy if you forget to fully charge it, or you just want to be 100% sure it doesn’t run out of juice while in use.
The Maia Nala wand is a vibrant turquoise; I love it here with the beach and the breeze.
How to use the Maia Nala Wand
- There are 3 buttons on the Maia Nala wand.
- Press and hold the power button (middle button) for 3 seconds to power on the wand.
- Press the vibrating head against your body. Although designed to be used on the clitoris, you can also use it on other body parts (i.e. nipples, back, or penis shaft). However, anal use is not recommended.
- Click the power button to cycle through 10 modes.
- Click the (+) and (-) buttons to increase or decrease the intensity of each mode. There are 5 intensity levels.
- Press and hold the power button to turn it off.
I found the controls to be very intuitive, and I like how there are 50 options (10 modes x 5 speeds) with very few buttons.
Package
Maia Nala wand comes packaged in a gray sleeve box. There is a jaguar painted on the front because this is fierce Lines from Maya.
Once you receive the gray sleeve, you’ll be greeted by a beautiful turquoise box with a flip-top lid.

My experience with the Maia Nala wand
I didn’t know what to expect from the $85 Maia Nala wand. Maia is a well-known brand, but I associate it more with smaller, cheaper vibrators…I’m not sure how well they perform in this niche.
To my pleasant surprise, the Maia Nala wand is very good. The vibrations are very powerful, more powerful than I expected from a wireless wand under $100. They were powerful enough that when I focused on my clitoris, I could feel the vibrations rumbling and traveling along the sides of my vulva and reverberating sensitively around my vaginal opening. In my opinion, that’s exactly what a powerful wand vibrator should be able to do.
The first 3 levels are very rumbling. The fourth and fifth floors were even livelier…but, by then, the vibrations were so intense that despite the buzz, it was still pleasant. Personally, it’s very easy for me to reach orgasm with this toy (which I like since I don’t always have time to slowly build up).
The top speeds offered are all amazing. I’m a bit of a power queen so this is perfect. But if your clitoris is sensitive or you crave a gentler speed, you may want to stick to a lower, slower speed.
I also like both power options. I use it in the cordless option and the battery hasn’t drained during use…but I don’t always remember to double check to make sure my vibrator is fully charged, and I like knowing I can switch if I’m in the heat If the power is out in the weather, you can plug it in and play.
The Maia Nala wand is pretty loud. This is probably the biggest drawback. Even if my door is closed, I can hear it clearly if I step out of the room and listen from outside. Most full size wands have this problem so I’m not surprised, but it’s definitely something to consider if you have roommates.
Maia Nala Wand Review – General Thoughts
The Maia Nala Wand is a great wand vibrator for under $100. While it occasionally errs on the buzz side, it’s quite powerful and the intensity compensates for any buzz quite well. I like the two power options, and I like that you can take it into the bathtub. Be warned, it’s a little noisy here, but if you don’t have to worry about roommates, you should be fine.
