Review: Magic Within ÅLTHORION Dildo

ÅLTHORION is a knotted dragon dildo that is part of Magic Within’s beautifully detailed mechanical/alien catalogue. The design is unique both visually and in use, the hand-painted details make the details shine, and the knot feels completely different than any other knot I’ve tried.

Design and specifications

Based in the Czech Republic/Czech Republic, Magic Within’s crafts feature stunning engraved designs and extremely detailed hand-painting. Their toys feature mechanical and alien themes, with crisp sculpted details that enhance the sense of fantasy. I’ve previously reviewed their MERCIO (a mechanically enhanced human dildo) and CEPHALLUS (a mechanical tentacle).

ÅLTHORION’s design is very mechanical, with vaguely phallic features. It has a flat tip with a tapered tip, a textured knot and a heavy base with one side reminiscent of a ball. Currently available in two sizes (medium and large), with plans to add two more.

Mine is a large size, medium firmness 00-50. It’s soft all around, but sturdy enough to stay upright and provide enough internal pressure to feel good. Don’t make the knot too dense; while some knots are more spherical, this type of knot is less round and tends to have a more wavy shape. This makes the knot easier to insert and slightly less secure than thicker knots.

Available length for large size is approximately 6 inches. At its widest point, the knot has a circumference of 6.7 inches, but one side is thicker than the other; the diameter is approximately 2.5 by 2 inches. The base is 6.5 inches long, 4 inches wide, and 2.5 inches high. While 2.5 inches in diameter is generally on the higher end of what I’m comfortable with, the overall girth is very manageable for me, so this size works well for me.

I customized the color based on a recent pour I saw in Magic Within: gradient from light green at the top to teal with a green flash at the bottom, with some of the design colors being white/off-white. They suggested that it would be impossible to color the knot exactly as in the image because it would be difficult to hand-paint higher colors on the model. They gave me the option to change the model, but I gave them the freedom to decide how best to implement it since I wasn’t too concerned about the exact color placement.

The end result was exactly what I wanted! It fits the inspiration and the color layout is very close to my model. While the white part may not be pure white, it matches the style of the original toy I mentioned, and I love the shimmer it gives off.

In addition to the ÅLTHORION, I also received a CEPHALLUS for review, a surprise HOLSTER, a squid soft bun (also known as CEPHALLUS) and two satin buns bearing the brand’s logo. These bags are great for preventing lint and don’t shed at all. One bag can hold CEPHALLUS and ÅLTHORION, or should be able to hold 2-3 typical medium-sized toys.

ÅLTHORION single color customization starts at €100/$103. A customization like mine would cost €250/$257. A lot of this cost comes from the difficulty of painting high up on the model; anything above the base will incur a higher cost. The hand painting is done within the mold itself, so the further you go on the model, the deeper you have to work into the mold; tight spaces can make working difficult.

For single color customizations, Magic Within works with the customer to determine which pigments to use, so there are many options.

In use (vagina)

Let’s start with the tip: Slightly pointier, the underside is more textured than the top, and slimmer than the rest of the dildo. All the details that I’m not usually keen on but found interesting in ÅLTHORION. The tip inserted easily, it wasn’t deep enough to pierce my cervix, and the texture on the top was real Even though it looks smooth and round, it’s nice and the girth is perfect when I’m not fully warmed up. As far as shallow penetration goes, it’s great.

The dildo tilts out a few inches, and this is where it gets interesting. The center of the shaft is actually a knot, but The top part of the knot feels like a flared headhas the same unique “pop” feel when inserted. (On my unit, this is the green section that flares out over the middle white section.) It’s easier to insert than the flared head due to the angled entrance and having a partial shaft in front of it to keep it stable/inserted. Removing and reinserting the horn head can be tedious, but The bottom bracket flare on the ÅLTHORION is very easy to pop in and out. I love the feeling, so this gives me a thumbs up.

The texture of the knot was too big for me if I wasn’t warmed up, but once I was fully warmed up it was pretty good. It’s intense, which works for me because I like strong textures, although it feels rather rough despite the rounded details. While I could ride along this part of the shaft to experience the texture at the entrance, I tend not to do so and instead sink to the bottom of the knot.

The knot locked much better than I expected.. Usually, very round knots lock best, but this knot is comfortable despite its different shape. I only had to tighten it a little to lock it inside while lifting myself (and it didn’t need to be tightened at all while riding), which is impressive considering the weight of the base. While I find that some knots can be a bit painful to pull out if they are round and thick enough, the ÅLTHORION’s knots are easy to pull out when I’m ready.

Once I got the knot in, I could ride the last part of the shaft, giving me a little friction while keeping the knot filled. This part is very short. I love being able to ride while the knot is locked inside me, but considering how short the shaft is, I can barely move. I couldn’t take it past where it started to explode. The blue line in the image below is my limit. (About 6 inches down, consistent with the 6.2 inches of usable length indicated on the website.) Beyond that length, the size increase is too great for further insertion. I really wish the shaft behind the knot was a little more usable.

The weight and size of the base make it very stable when ridingbut the large size makes storing the dildo cumbersome and a bit difficult to insert. I get more thrust leverage than I expected, and it’s easy to hold at any angle, but using it this way isn’t ideal considering the base hits anything I sit on.

Comprehensive

ÅLTHORION is a gorgeous design that stands out among fantasy dildos and fits perfectly with the other products in the Magic Within catalogue. The top part of the knot has the same pop of feel as my favorite flared dildos; the knot locks well and doesn’t get uncomfortable; the base is very stable and comfortable for riding; and as usual, the colors are impressive. The texture on the knot is quite intense, which works well for me as a medium-firm person, but may be too much for those who prefer low to medium firmness.

The only real drawbacks for me are that the base starts to flare out too high, there’s too little stem through the knot to ride comfortably, and the very wide base is a bit awkward to store. Other than that, I really like how it works, especially the flare above the knot.
