Review: Fantasy Grove Daybreak Dildo

The Daybreak from Fantasy Grove is a sleek, edgy dildo. It’s one of many new human-shaped dildos on the independent sex toy market, following the familiar and accessible shapes that have been popular recently. With just the right amount of swell, a pronounced head, and nice curves, it ticks all the boxes for me while offering a new take on a classic shape.

Design and Specs

As the first entry in the Fantasy Grove Fundamentals series (which currently includes Daybreak and Midnight Hour), Daybreak is a fairly simple model designed to appeal to a wide audience, including beginners.

The Daybreak is thicker on top and thinner at the base. There’s minimal texture: it’s rounded at the head with a slight ripple underneath, but the rest of it is completely smooth. The finish is somewhere between satin and glossy, giving it a nice shimmer. My Daybreak is a medium-firm 00-50 and is a large size (7.5″ usable length, 2.2″ diameter/7″ circumference max). There are 6 sizes available and a variety of firmnesses. This model was designed by Deviant Gardens.

I customized it in a deep blue marble colorway, inspired by the Mariana Trench pour from Fantasy Grove. Deep sea green, blue, cobalt, and lots of glitter combine to make this pour breathtakingly beautiful, and the polished finish enhances the depth of color. The marbleization has stained on one side – this can happen with any color during the production process, as these are handmade products made with liquid mediums – but these particular colors, ultimately make the dildo look more like the ocean, almost like it’s marbled on one side and faded on the other.

Fantasy Grove offers custom-made toys in a custom style. The large MTO Daybreak comes with three-color marbles for $105. (Fantasy Grove can mix other colors by email request, which is what I did instead of picking from the MTO menu.) Their toys are also available through stock restocks/drops.

In use (vaginal)

As someone who prefers medium-sized dildos, the large Daybreak is a comfortable size for me, providing a sense of fullness and stretch. I need to be pretty horny to use it comfortably, so I can’t just lube it up and shove it in cold, as I sometimes do when I’m impatient.

While I don’t need to be ready to use the Daybreak (just arousal), I do need to be ready to use thicker dildos, so the Daybreak is just the right size for me to warm up to them.

The near-glossy aesthetic and smoothness, without the uncomfortable friction that comes with a dry high gloss, is really nice for me as it allows the toy to slide in and out easily. I was initially concerned that the polished finish might be too shiny for me to use comfortably, but luckily it’s not too shiny to hold lube. I do need to reapply lube more often than with a matte dildo, but not as often as with a high gloss dildo.

The base was very easy to hold. I wasn’t sure it would be so since there didn’t seem to be a lot of room to hold onto, but as soon as I wiped off the excess lube it was easy to grip the tapered edge while maintaining enough support for thrusting.

I could feel the coronary ridge against my front wall, but it was a subtle sensation, more like Constant gentle pressure Better “stimulation” than I get with the Titan or Adventurer. The head is great for low intensity front wall stimulation, especially near the A-spot. Due to the size, I can’t easily adjust the angle for targeted G-spot stimulation.

Daybreak’s textures are almost nonexistent; I could barely feel the ripples beneath my head. Sometimes I’d get a little feel, but other than that, they were probably nonexistent.

Where the dawn shines is the waveIt may not lock in as strongly as a knotty or sharp swell, but it offers the best of both worlds: I can push in fast and hard without having to struggle to pull it back out, or I can sit back and comfortably keep it inside knowing the swell will stay in place (even if I can’t fit the full length). The stretch on top is nice and the padding is great, while the thinner bottom section provides some relief for my entries.

Excellent performance on curved bottomIt presses directly against the wall in front of me, applying constant pressure, including extensive G-spot stimulation. I really like that the curve is big and strong enough to produce this kind of stimulation. While it may not have the texture I like, the curve itself is great at this angle.

Comprehensive

The Daybreak is rugged, easy to hold, designed to be compatible with harnesses, and available in an incredible variety of colors. It comes in six sizes and a variety of firmnesses, ensuring it fits almost everyone.

For my taste, the Daybreak occupies a limited niche in my toy box. The curves are nice and the base is nice, and the size is right for my largest toys, but the glans isn’t as firm as I’d like. (To be fair, I have very high standards for low-texture dildos.) If I were comfortable with the size, I’d want a firmer texture and a more prominent glans.

For those who prefer a less textured feel, the Daybreak might be a good choice as it has a low-impact head, good expansion, and is easy to use, and given its small size, it should be a relatively gentle dildo for beginners.
