Resident Evil x Babymetal collaboration coming in 2026
Capcom has announced that it will collaborate with kawaii metal band Babymetal in 2026 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the horror game “Resident Evil.”
The announcement was made at the end of the year baby metalDuring their Los Angeles concert at the Intuit Dome, the band became the first Japanese band to hold a solo performance at the venue. After the performance, the concert screen switched to a special message from Mrs. Dimitrescu from Resident Evil.

“It’s almost the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil, and to celebrate, Resident Evil and Babymetal are releasing collaborative merchandise. Get some for your grubby little hands [merchandise],” the popular character was revealed in the trailer.
The video includes some quick flashes of artwork, presumably a glimpse of designs for exclusive upcoming merchandise. Capcom has yet to reveal more information about what products will be included in this special collaboration, but the series is expected to launch sometime in 2026.
The video game studio has created a dedicated website for Resident Evil’s 30th anniversary, where fans can check out news and updates. Resident Evil: RequiemThe ninth installment in the “Resident Evil” series will also be released in February 2026.

Resident Evil, known as Resident Evil in Japan, premiered on the PlayStation in 1996 and was created by Shinji Mikami and Tokuro Fujiwara. Hailed as a pioneer of the survival horror genre, the series has grown to become Capcom’s best-selling franchise, with more than 174 million copies sold worldwide as of March 2025.
The original game and several of its sequels centered on the fictional American town of Raccoon City, which has become overrun by flesh-eating zombies and other bioterrorist terrorists. Its deep storytelling and tense gameplay cemented Resident Evil’s legendary status and inspired countless game developers in Japan and beyond, inspiring other horror classics such as silent HillAlan Wake and blind spot, Just to name a few.

With the release Requiem A total of 30 games will be released in the series by 2026, just in time for the 30th anniversary celebrations.
The franchise has spawned six live-action films, four animated films, an anime miniseries, a live-action Netflix special, a series of novels and comics, and a global merchandise empire.

Babymetal’s influence on heavy metal
Babymetal also has an impressive international legacy. The band’s mission to bridge the seemingly opposite ends of kawaii and heavy metal has earned them praise from some of the biggest names in music, including Lady Gaga and Metallica.
Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi and Momoko Okazaki, known under the stage names Su-metal, Moametal and Momometal respectively, have performed in over 25 different countries.
The lineup originally included Yui Mizuno as Yuimetal, but the artist left the group in 2018 due to health issues, and her spot was filled by Momometal, a former member of the idol group Sakura Gakuin. The original members were all around 11 or 12 years old when they joined Babymetal. At a young age, they impressed audiences around the world with their powerful singing voices.
The band embarks on another world tour this summer that will last until 2026. Stops include Mexico City, Copenhagen, Istanbul and more.
