Over half of Americans say vacation sex is the best-ever

Our away game is strong.

Traveling turns Americans on, with more than 52% of us admitting to having the best sex of our lives while on vacation — and a whopping 42% revealing the fireworks were a result of a dalliance with someone other than a partner.

And we’re hungry for more horizontal hijinks, too, according to a steamy study showing 74% of singles eager to meet someone on their next adventure, while 26% of those in relationships say they’re up for a summer romance this year, SWNS reported.

The random, double-opt-in survey, done by Talker Research for LELO, a trendy Swedish sex toy company, was made up of 2,000 sexually active adults, who described their climactic coital exploits as “exciting, spontaneous and intense,” involving “a lot of role reversal and experimental activities,” and “fun because it was forbidden like a romance novel.”

But what happens on vacation probably ought to stay on vacation — the vast majority of us say that the end of the trip should be the end of the fling, with 37% of us fairly certain a one-night stand is plenty.

That said, eight in 10 of us are eager to bring this electric energy home to our partners — we also believe that a vacation would invigorate our sex lives.

“In today’s fast-paced world, unwinding and reconnecting with yourself is more important than ever,” said Luka Matutinovic, chief marketing officer of LELO.

“Traveling with your significant other, friends or even alone offers a unique opportunity to step away from the daily routine and experience new things! In fact, often the best memories are sometimes made when plans are left behind. And the freedom that comes from visiting somewhere you have never been and no one knows you allows your desires to run wild as well,” the pleasure pro said.

As well as asking about our exploits, the pricey vibrator vendor pulled back the boudoir curtains to learn more about how we get it on when we’re off — 31% of respondents said that being on vacation meant they were more likely to be sexually adventurous.

That could mean setting the mood (42%), attempting new techniques (52%), or finding a romantic nook for nookie (53%). Lingerie (45%) and sex toys (41%) were considered essential packing list items by some, while 56% were either already using the latter or were interested in doing so.

We’re also more likely to want to try new and sexy things while we’re on vacation, the study revealed. SWNS

“Prompted by the recent pandemic, people have become more aware of their physical and mental health, leading them to travel more in order to achieve and maintain the best health and life balance,” said Matutinovic.

“Still, sometimes the journey is more than just reaching the destination. It is about the fun you have getting there, as well as the enjoyment once you arrive. The same is true with pleasure. So why not bring the pleasure from home with you while you’re on the go?”
