OUCH Silicone Bondage Rope Review

OUCH Silicone Bondage Rope Review

I love Japanese rope bondage—a lot. So when I found Silicone rope, I would love to get some and test it. I will also add the disclaimer I received it for free in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

Specifications

Package

The packaging is as expected for adult products – predominantly black, with a sexy shape showing off the contents. This is a simple item, so simple packaging is sufficient. No padding or foam is needed as it doesn’t need protection.

I would say that if it’s from an environmental standpoint you could go smaller (although that would leave less room for multi-language instructions), but for the actual rope it won’t matter.

Side note: It will be quite twisted when you remove it from the plastic wrap, but a few gentle tugs will straighten it out.

Even if you tie it tightly, there is still a lot of stretch.

The first thing I noticed was that the silicone had Significant stretch – It’s like a hard rubber band. This can be an advantage or a disadvantage, depending on who is using it.

What does it mean?

You can’t (obviously) use this kind of rope the same way you would hemp, jute, or cotton fibers (like in Shibari). The friction of silicone rope makes it difficult to pull across it, and any pulling across the skin will cause severe discomfort at the very least. Also, the rope needs to have strength and support in order to lie against the body properly and not slip into places where it could cause injury.

But remember…

The packaging clearly states three ways of use…

1. Wristband

2. Ankle cuffs

3. As a Whip/Flogger

I’ll add a fourth – some simple cross straps on the legs, thighs, and maybe the forearms.

I tried all three and here are my reactions…

  • It is best to wrap the rope in half (folded in half, as in Shibari) around your ankles or wrists. This makes the tie easier and quicker to complete and helps reduce pinching.
  • It is best to use as much cord as possible when making cuff restraints, as this helps reduce the wearer’s ability to stretch or twist the restraint. It is also safer this way.
  • Unless you are very slow and very careful, you won’t get a perfect cuff like the one on the package – especially if it’s laborious to put on.
  • It doesn’t have to look perfect but actually be functional.
  • Partners with more hair will feel the pull on their skin.
  • Bandages should not be too tight (you don’t want to cut off circulation). Any “abusive” bandages on the legs or forearms should not be left on the body for too long – I had deep marks after being wrapped for less than a minute.
  • it works great As a whipper/flagellate, and with a high “sting”.
  • It will need to be cleaned thoroughly after each use, but this is easy to do. Also, dry thoroughly and store in a cool place to avoid more lint clinging to it.
  • able no way Never hang it – it is only a beautiful addition and does not bear any load-bearing responsibility.

Rigger’s reaction

I took it to a Shibari rope event and got feedback from other rope makers. Here’s what they said…

  • “I really like whipping with it, but not tying it. The pounding sensation is fun.”
  • “Simple cuffs are fine, but I don’t like the feeling of the silicone rubbing against each other when I tie the cuffs.”
  • “It’s fun. I like how easy it is to clean – much easier than rope bondage.”
  • “I could add something fun to use as a mouth gag (since it’s easy to clean).

All in all, everyone was really excited when I first showed them the product.

Advantages and disadvantages

  • Reasonable price (comprehensive consideration)
  • Easy to clean and disinfect
  • It’s fun if you want to be sadistic
  • Different sensations on the skin
  • If you are a rope collector, this is a great addition
  • Collects dust and debris like a magnet
  • Not suitable for beginners
  • Two cuff styles only

in conclusion

Despite the “limitations”, I love this product. I think it would look great in photos with models wearing latex, PVC, or rubber (or nothing at all). It would be even better if a variety of colors were used. I like it as a casual sex product and I use it when I’m feeling a little sadistic or naughty.

I’d also add that if you buy it and don’t like it as a bondage tool, it’s still very useful in other ways – I’ve seen reviewers buy/use it in a similar way to lightweight bungee cords. This is one of the only adult products I can say is not a waste of money.
