The wand is iconic, but is it the best?
Yes, this power would reduce you to a quivering or screaming pile of flesh.
but…
Many companies have introduced their own wands, with more and more coming out every year. Let’s take a look at some wand basics and some of the more well-known models.
What you should look for when buying a magic wand…
Plug-in or wireless
It’s true that when these toys first came out, you could only buy plug-in models. This was mostly due to the limitations of the technology at the time (toy life depended on quickly depleting batteries, there were zero options for charging ports, and compatibility with motors and power sources). That said, if you wanted a powerful wand, you needed a plug.
However…
That’s not the case now. There are plenty of hardware solutions that can make a wand powerful and wireless.
This isn’t to say that all cordless models are powerful, some skimp on materials for a cheaper toy. As long as it’s not harmful to your body, there’s nothing wrong with having a toy that doesn’t vibrate out the stuffing. After all, some people aren’t powerful queens/kings. But remember, you get what you pay for.
Attachment Dilemma
Since Hitachi was the first brand to come out with this kind of handle, most of the options you’ll find are from this brand (all third party). However, some companies are smart and make their own handles but with the same head size as the Hitachi.
The head (circumference) of these wands is 7.5 inches: Original Hitachi Wand vibrator, Doxy Wand, BodyWand, Lovehoney power supply
There are also attachments for wands of other sizes. The more unique the head size, the less likely it is that it actually comes with the attachments you want.

Shock resistance
If there’s one thing that’s made the Hitachi Magic Wand burst onto the sex toy scene…it’s power.
While it might not have been intended as a sex toy, the motor delivered incredible sensations to anyone who dared to bring it near their private parts – and so the word spread far and fast.
Unfortunately, not all wand vibrators are created equal. While some do rival or even surpass the power of a wand, There are a lot of imposters out there who are not nearly as powerful.
Full size or mini size?
Usually there was only one size – large. Now, all sizes are available.
Generally speaking, if you see a minimay be weaker. However, there are a few that really stand out.
Tantus Rumble Lightweight, Handheld Power and LoveHoney Desire For its size, it’s pretty powerful… so if you don’t want to take such a large toy to bed, there are other options.
Wand Reviews
Original Wand
I’m going to get this straight – the original Hitachi Magic Wand is no The best vibrator ever. It made a small contribution to the revolution in bedrooms and sex toys, and it will hold that medal forever.
Inevitably, however, other toys would emerge to pick up the slack from the Hitachi.
As mentioned before, it’s powerful. Really, really powerful.
That’s why this huge, old-fashioned engine of technology LoudYou can’t even use it in the bedroom without someone knowing. I also know some people don’t like it making a lot of noise when they’re trying to be weird. Some people don’t care. It’s not necessarily a deal breaker, but something to consider.
second, It overheats Like a jerk. Even the instructions suggest keeping it on for less than 20 minutes. That might not be long enough for those who like to use it for edging or just leave it there while exploring other parts of their partner’s body.
Second, there are only two speeds—the low speed roars, and the high speed hums. With such powerful internals, it would be better to have 5 or 6 speeds, with gradually increasing intensity. Sure, you can buy a $20 attachment to do this, but if you’ve already spent over $100 on a toy, you might as well go for a better option from another brand.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t give the original a try (the accessories alone are worth it, I own one), but be aware that you’re purchasing a large bear.
Chargable Hitachi Magic Wand
Hitachi recently started producing a new version of the wand. This is awesome!
notes: The VIBRATEX name will appear on the box. They are the company that bought the rights to sell the wand from Hitachi, so no worries there.
It’s not without its problems, but we’ll get to that later. Wireless, lower speed, and comes with silicone tips Now. It’s a little quieter, too. Speaking of listening to customer complaints – well done, Hitachi!
The upgraded Hitachi Magic Wand has two main drawbacks: size and time limit. This version actually Automatic shutdown Close after 20 minutes – It’s better than leaving it on all the time and overheating, but still annoying (remember, you can always turn it back on again). And it’s still large and difficult to operate.
Another shortcoming, not the fault of Hitachi or Vibratex, is There are many fakes on the marketThe continued popularity of this toy has led to many small factories knocking off the product. While it may be safe to buy other sex toys from Amazon and eBay, don’t buy your wand from there. It’s best to buy from a reputable sex toy store or directly from the manufacturer’s website!
This is the last question – Expensive to buy from reputable sex shops.
It costs almost twice as much as the original wand! The rechargeable version is $150 or more in most places!! Whether it is worth the money, well, I guess that’s up to you.
Powerful Wand
For a long time, the magic of the Magic Wand has been out of reach for the British. There are workarounds, but they aren’t particularly safe. That’s where Doxy comes in.
They decided to make a magic wand Voltage output suitable for UK plugs…they did a great job!
This thing is sturdy and vibrates powerfully, putting the Hitachi Magic Wand to shame. And it vibrates in just the right place, with no vibration displacement/leakage through the handle. Your hands will thank you =)
Not only have I used this amazing toy many times, I also had the tech department cut one open just to see what makes this toy so sturdy (and so heavy). Here’s what’s inside:
As I said before, it has a lot of weight – this is because Aluminum (or cast iron – not sure actually) In addition to being heavier than the other toys, it is also about 13 inches long.
If you’re looking for an ergonomic and lightweight toy, it’s best not to consider the Doxy. If you don’t mind these shortcomings and the fact that it has a wire, put this wand on your shortlist!
Handheld Power
I really like this wand vibrator. It’s small, fairly quiet, lightweight, and very powerful for its size.
It’s also very simple to use – there’s only one button. Press it once to turn it on, then hold it down to increase the power. Its simplicity does come with problems though. I often found myself going past the level I wanted. To go back, you have to turn it off and back on again – a bit annoying in the moment. I wish it had more than one button (two to increase and decrease). That would be much better.
The best thing about this wand is Removable silicone top cover. This means you can correctly disinfect No need to worry about damaging other parts of the toy. So if you really want to, you can share it =)
Its unique head size means Not many attachmentsbut they are available if you need them.
One weird thing I noticed is that at lower levels, the handle shakes/vibrates quite a bit. Many other wands have this problem, but I’m a little confused as to why this happens with this one. At the highest level, the handle barely moves. This is the exact opposite of what I expected. It’s weird and a little annoying, but not a big deal.
Lastly, I really don’t like cords. Why make it so small and light and then have to have a cord attached?! The marketing of the toy makes it look like it’s wireless too!
I’m guessing that’s why it’s so light – because it doesn’t have a battery. They do come out with a rechargeable version, but I haven’t gotten my hands on it yet. I’m not sure if it vibrates with the same force as the corded version, so I can’t recommend it with confidence. But if you don’t mind the cord and want a mini wand instead of a full-sized one, you could give it a try.
So much rumble
I would sum this toy up in one word – OK.
It’s not bad, but not great. It’s just OK. They put a unique twist on the design. The toy itself is pretty nice, as is the packaging. It’s also made of silicone and ABS plastic, which makes it lightweight, and it’s USB-rechargeable (no wires to worry about).
The button placement is also well thought out (it’s really annoying to accidentally press a button and cause the toy to shut down in the middle of play). The curve of the head allows for easy solo play, and the removable head makes cleanup super simple.
I was surprised that despite its many advantages, it was underpowered. It didn’t shock me, nor did it make me uncomfortable. It is also not waterproof (hence the removable head).
I’m not saying don’t give it a try. I’m just saying that people who like strength might not like it, while people who like a more gentle feel might like it.
Love Honey Desire
I don’t want to beat around the bush about this – This damn toy vibrates in the wrong placeWhat’s going on, LoveHoney?!
Most vibrators are on the handle. I don’t care if they’re powerful or not. My hand goes numb before I can finish. Low setting, high setting, tight grip, loose grip – it doesn’t matter.
This is too bad… I really wanted to love this toy. It’s made of almost 100% silicone, it’s pretty cheap at $84.99, it’s wireless, and it’s smaller than most wands. But I can’t get over it. Handle vibration causes numbness in handsWhat could have been a great toy becomes trash! Guess what happens when a retailer white labels (puts their own brand on an existing product) a product from an unknown manufacturer.
LELO Smart Wand
Ah, LELO – people either love it or they hate it.
It’s hard to recommend LELO toys due to recent price increases (Often there are toys that do the same job for almost half the price)…but this toy deserves a review, at least for its programming.
The SmartWand is quite powerful (slightly less than the Doxy) and has a really innovative feature – haptic sensing. Haptic sensing basically allows you to use pressure to change the vibration level. The more pressure you apply to your head, the stronger the vibration. It’s a really cool feature.
Another advantage of Smart Wand is curveCompared to the original wand, it More ergonomicThe slight curve makes it more comfortable to use in single-player games. However, for two-player games, I don’t feel the shape makes much of a difference – most stances you’ll use won’t see any benefit from the curve.
If you have $200 to spare, check it out.
DOMI from LOVENSE
Domi will be available in 2017. Being a newcomer to the wand space does have its advantages (specifically, having current technology and enough consumer comparisons to know what people like and don’t like).
This magic wand half The size of most competitorsbut the same number of strength. Not to mention it’s USB rechargeable, Cordless.
It also has access to the Lovense app, allowing long-distance couples to control their partner’s toy even if they’re in different countries. There’s also a programmable option, where users can go into the app and set the vibration level they want, low, medium or high.
It’s made of 100% silicone with an ABS plastic ring through which you can see the flashing LED light. I found this feature a bit annoying, but apparently, it’s designed for video conferencing (to show that the toy is actually working). I read that you can turn the feature off. So, no problem.
It’s small and light, perfect for traveling. I highly recommend it.
