Mom, daughter collapsed stranger’s wedding – for a funny

An aggressive mom flew over her daughter’s six hours and bumped into a stranger’s wedding – trying to find their date.

Leala Hewak, 60, managed to attend for her and her daughters (27-year-old Estée Katz and 30-year-old Sophia Katz) Invitation.

The graphic novelist and actor have been talking to strangers in group chats with strangers on art projects and found out he was married in two weeks and had “many handsome cousins.”

Leala mentioned her “beautiful single daughter” and was eventually invited – helped to pay for the flight from Montreal, Canada and Sophia, in January 2025.

Musicians Estée and Sophia ended up not finding the man of their dreams, but said it was a “beautiful” night.

“She is a very involved mom,” said Estée, part-time social media content creator from Montreal, Canada.

“She is moving forward. She is interested in our happiness and finds a partner for us one day. I think some people are cute, but it doesn’t happen. We dance a lot,” she said.

“If you have the chance to come to you and you can do that, go ahead,” she said.

Leala was included in a chat with a man in Mexico City for her recent portrait project.

“Forward” mom did not back down and asked the stranger if she was single – because she was always looking for her daughter’s potential partner.

Este said: “She asked him, ‘You are single because I have these two daughters?’.

“He said ‘I’m going to get married in two weeks’. But said he has a lot of handsome Jewish cousins,” she told reporters.

“She always sends me photos of the guys I have – they aren’t usually my type, but she sent some photos of these guys and I thought they were cute. Ten minutes later, she called me and said we could attend wedding.”

The stranger invites Leala and her daughter to the wedding, and Leala has to say yes.

The family is with Stepdad, 61-year-old artist Donald Hewak, who decided to spend a holiday, and Leala helps Estée and Sophia go out by plane.

“My mom was very generous and helped us there. It was a holiday for me – we would be happy. It was a great opportunity,” Este said.

Estée flew from Montreal to Mexico City (six hours) while her mom flew around from Toronto, Sophia drove past California.

The family can attend weddings and receptions.

“We stayed a big part of the whole night. It was beautiful. I’ve never been to a Jewish wedding in Mexico. It was a very interesting cultural combination. They looked very happy.”

The family stayed in Mexico City for a week and spent a holiday.

“We love having fun. We love living our lives. It’s very spontaneous, but it’s a typical story for my mom,” Este said.
