Men pay escorts for sex because it’s easier

You might think the cost of living crisis would mean fewer men would be able to afford sex, but according to escort Katija Cortez, the opposite is true.

The 28-year-old said many of her clients said using an escort was “cheaper” than a traditional date.

“They told me that the food, drinks and gifts they gave on multiple dates, plus the time they spent doing all that, it added up,” she told news.com.au.

“When you see a sex worker, you can see her as often or as little as you want, depending on your schedule. I doubt that many of the girls these men could date in a traditional way would be happy to only see their men for an hour a week.”

Ms Cortes explained that for some men, casual dating with an escort means their needs are met while being able to work longer hours, thus increasing their income.

“With sex workers, men can schedule dates around their busy schedules,” she said.

“Men today are looking to work smarter, not harder. It takes a lot of effort to stay in a relationship. You can get everything you would get from a relationship with a sex worker, just without the commitment, for less hassle and less money.”

The 28-year-old said men are “very analytical” and she wasn’t surprised they crunched the numbers to find that dating might be more expensive.

“Men think differently than women. Men today do a cost-benefit analysis between dating and having an escort, and having an escort is more financially viable,” she said.

“Almost every one of my clients does this cost-benefit analysis and tells me that meeting me is a much greater benefit to them in terms of time and money than meeting a girl at a club.”

Ms Cortes said time was also a big factor, with many of her clients unable to carve out time for an appointment in their busy work lives.

“Given the current dating environment and the cost of living, some men don’t want to waste their time dating. Many of my clients are CEOs, entrepreneurs, lawyers, doctors, financiers, and a common reason they come to me is that they have less and less time to date,” she said.

“With the expectations of their jobs getting higher and higher, many people don’t want to date because they don’t want to be distracted from work. So looking for sex workers is actually more time-saving and cost-effective.”

The escort said she believed economic conditions had a lot to do with some men preferring sex workers rather than taking the time and effort to find a partner.

“People are busy working, busy making money, and men are busy dating,” she said.
