Is Dai Heshun still in Netflix’s The Boyfriend?

This summer, Netflix Japan made history by launching Boy frienda gay romance reality show that follows a group of young men living in the same house. The show has plenty of drama and heart-warming moments while also discussing deeper topics like LGBTQ rights and visibility. Since the final episode premiered on July 30, fans have been demanding an answer to one main question: Are Dai and Shun together?

22-year-old university student Dai Nakai and 23-year-old artist and DJ Shun Nakanishi quickly became the show’s most talked-about couple. They showed their interest in each other from the beginning. Dai was immediately attracted to Shun, but Shun kept Dai (and the audience) guessing whether he wanted to progress in the relationship. Ultimately, the two confessed their love for each other in the finale – but they have kept their relationship status secret on social media since then.

However, Netflix Japan released Reunion scene On YouTube, fans of Daishun can rejoice — the fan-favorite couple are not only still dating, they’re reportedly living together.

Netflix Reunion Series

On August 3, Netflix Japan released a reunion episode, marking seven months since the series’ filming ended. It was a welcome update: fans have been on their toes, searching the boys’ social media accounts for any clues about Dai and Shun’s relationship status.

At the 43rd minute of the show, comedian Tokui asked the question everyone has been asking: “So what happened to the two of you after the show?” Dai and Shun smiled at each other and – to the cheers of the commentators and the world – they held hands.

The couple confirmed that not only do they get along really well, but they have been staying at Day’s parents’ house since filming wrapped. Shun also confirmed that he had met Day’s friends, who had appeared in a previous episode; at the time, commentators noted that they seemed very confident and opinionated. During the reunion episode, Shun said, “It was OK, but I was nervous.”
