A 35-year-old Maine woman who has never had sex says she is often teased for being a virgin but refuses to stay silent.

Lauren Hudgens revealed on social media that she has never dated but wants to bust myths about virginity.

“I’ve never been ashamed of being a virgin or having limited sexual experience, and I’ve always been open about it — even as a teenager,” Hudgens told What’s The Jam.

“For me, intimacy has always been about something meaningful and not something that is rushed through to ‘keep up’ with everyone else,” she added.

On Instagram and TikTok, Hudgens often receives comments claiming she “doesn’t act like a virgin” — something she attributes to the fact that she’s not the “docile, socially awkward, self-aware stereotype” people expect.

“Any kind of public platform has negative consequences,” the blonde explained. “Criticisms often fall into the predictable categories – claims I’m lying, ‘expired’, attention-seeking, narcissistic, etc.

“At this stage it has no effect on me.”

At the same time, Hudgens said people often assume she is religious and “saving herself” for marriage, which is another false stereotype.

“I value a committed, consistent, long-term partnership rather than a contract for the sake of a contract or tradition,” she said. “I’m not the ultra-traditional archetype that people try to project onto me, but I’m also not your average modern woman who’s into hookup culture and being casual.”

Only in recent years has Hudgens become more open to the prospect of romance, saying she “wasn’t ready” in her teens or 20s.

“I’m just getting close to this state of readiness right now and there’s nothing embarrassing about it – if anything, it’s intentional,” the beauty insisted.

“I’m waiting for the right connection instead of grabbing the first one,” she declares defiantly. “You’ll never catch me settling out of fear or despair.”

“I’m totally on my own path — and I love that.”
