A 33-year-old virgin said there was “nothing wrong” with maturing late, and insisted it was common for millennials to have never done it.
Lauren Hudgens made the remarks in an interview with Southwest News Service and revealed that religion is not the reason why she remains a virgin.
“I’m a virgin, but I’m not traditional, usually one way or the other, but I’m happy with my life,” the Portland, Maine, resident said.
“Your twenties are such a confusing time, everyone’s planning their careers and dealing with all this stuff — it’s not what I wanted,” she further said about sex.
Like most only children in the family, Hudgens learned how to be alone very early and never actively pursued a romantic relationship.
While her friends were experiencing the ups and downs of young love, Huggins was dealing with the death of her father, William, who died when she was a teenager.
Hudgens, who now lives mostly off a trust fund from her late father and enjoys an exciting life filled with travel and adventure, says sex is simply not her priority.
“Recently I’ve been to Morocco, Peru, the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas, France, Germany and the Netherlands, and I love immersing myself in new cultures,” she enthuses.
The Virgo now says she finally feels ready to find a life partner, but she’s not willing to settle for a less-than-ideal man.
“I believe in having high standards for everything, romantic or otherwise,” declares the intrepid traveler.
Hudgens said she hopes telling her story about her sexless life will help break down stigmas about adult virgins.
“I’ve received hundreds of messages from people in similar situations, so I feel like I’m helping people,” she told Southwest News Service.
She continued: “I am physically and mentally healthy, I have no social barriers or inhibitions, and despite my unique lifestyle, I am normal.”
“I’m just a late bloomer, but that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with me.”
