It’s tough love.
A “serious” dating coach says women should dump their boyfriend if he doesn’t say “I love you” to them within three months of dating.
Jake Maddock — who has made headlines for his no-nonsense approach to dating — recently made this claim in several videos on TikTok and Instagram, saying that women are wasting their time if they’re with commitment-phobic men who aren’t willing to say the three important words, “commitment.”
The expert bluntly said: “If your partner does not say ‘I love you’ very clearly within 12 weeks, then he is not your ideal partner and you have wasted your time.”
He added: “You’ll know your ideal partner and they’ll know it too.”
Viewers were divided over Maddock’s comments, with some arguing that the cut-and-dry advice doesn’t apply to every relationship.
Some say men who make false statements too quickly can cause “love bombing”.
Meanwhile, others claim that some relationships need more time to deepen before a man can express his love sincerely.
“There could be a lot of things going on here,” one woman wrote.
“In fact, things are different and should be viewed from a broader perspective.”
However, some commentators counter that women with low self-esteem tend to give up on the prospect of maintaining fruitless relationships.
“He’s right! That’s how relationships work,” one person said. “Ladies, know your worth.”
Another agreed, saying she and her boyfriend hit it off right away and got engaged a few weeks later.
“We got engaged six weeks later, married six months later, and now the marriage has lasted 32 years,” said the loved-up woman.
