A woman has revealed that she and her husband have completely broken up.
She said not only did he lack the festive spirit… This doesn’t exist.
“Getting yelly”
“My husband doesn’t do anything for Christmas. He doesn’t buy any gifts, cards, food or drinks, wrap anything, do any meal planning or anything,” she wrote in an online post.
His dedication to the holiday began with purchasing a tree and putting lights on it.
Dilemma? Their children love to celebrate, which stresses her out as she tries to organize the perfect Christmas for her family.
“Every Christmas he gets mad at me because I feel pressured to do everything,” she claimed.
“If I showed my stress in any way he would yell and say we shouldn’t have Christmas.”
“Starting to feel resentful”
To keep the peace, she lowered her expectations.
“We don’t go anywhere or do a lot. I try to stay on a budget so we don’t spend too much,” she explains.
Still, her holiday to-do list also includes delivering small gifts to loved ones, making Christmas cakes and sorting stockings for her now-adult children.
But the mental load has taken its toll, completely changing her outlook on the season.
“I’m starting to feel resentful now and even hate myself. I don’t do anything nice and Christmasy because it adds to the stress,” she admits.
Other parents on the forum also shared their own experiences:
“My husband wrote some cards,” one said.
“My husband is useless,” another agreed.
A third added: “I do the food. I make the gifts.”
Several commenters offered advice regarding the woman’s mental health.
“Step back,” someone advised.
Another encouraged her to “quit quietly.”
Overall, the theme was clear – many husbands just showed up not knowing what they were getting their kids for Christmas.
This dynamic has some women questioning how to recapture the joy of the holidays while sharing the burden.
For example, this mom went viral for talking about it and we could all learn something from her.
