When I stopped living in the questions and started living in the answers, the problems disappeared.
For most people, the holidays are a happy time filled with family, friends, and celebrations. However, for recovering sex and porn addicts, the holidays can be the most stressful time of the year. Acting or at least pretending to be happy, celebratory, and emotional feels unnatural and uncomfortable. If we’re not careful, we can become overwhelmed by this stress, and in response, we can revert to old, unhealthy behaviors. Therefore, it is important to recognize the danger zones of the holiday season and vigilantly maintain recovery-oriented activities. This is no Time to cancel therapy sessions, postpone meetings with sponsors, or skip any regular 12-step meetings. In fact, we may want to attend some additional therapy sessions and meetings and contact our sponsors more frequently.
