Holiday Shopping Ideas For The Sexy People On Your List

Can’t decide what to buy for all of those sexy people in your life this holiday season? Tired of giving lingerie and skimpy underwear year after year? Let me make things easy for you by sharing a list of sex-related reading material, films, and novelty gifts that are sure to be a hit, regardless of whether you’re buying something for a lover, a friend, or a lucky stranger in a White Elephant or Naughty Santa gift exchange.

Let’s start with books. If you’re just looking for a good, all-around sex book, you can’t go wrong with Mary Roach’s Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex. It is one of my absolute favorites and not only will it teach you more than you ever wanted to know about the history of sex research, but it also offers some of the best sex quotes you’ll ever read, such as “It is the mind that speaks a woman’s heart, not the vaginal walls.”

Interested in more of a how-to guide? Consider Ian Kerner’s She Comes First: The Thinking Man’s Guide to Pleasuring a Woman or Passionista: The Empowered Woman’s Guide to Pleasuring a Man. In each book, Kerner unravels the mysteries of female and male sexual pleasure in a way that is both educational and entertaining. For something a little more lighthearted, you might try Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man or Toygasms! The Insider’s Guide to Sex Toys and Techniques. In terms of films, if you’re looking for something a bit more on the scientific and/or serious side, you can’t go wrong with Kinsey or TransAmerica. They are two of my personal favorites, and having shown them in my Human Sexuality course multiple times, I can tell you that they have been consistently well-received by the college student crowd. If you’re looking for somewhat lighter fare where the emphasis is more on laughter than thinking, I’d suggest Easy A, Friends with Benefits, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, and But I’m a Cheerleader.

If you need a White Elephant or Naughty Santa idea, one possibility would be to give the gift of genital pizazz with a vajazzling set (available in kittycat, smiley face, and I heart you). If you have a little more money to spend, there’s always the Secret Dancer Stripper Pole, which will give anyone’s living room that extra touch of class. And remember, stripper poles can double as exercise equipment. Show the versatility of your gift with a pole dancing fitness video. If you’re searching for something a little more holiday-themed, consider some Christmas condoms so that the lucky recipient can literally feel the pleasure of the season.

Finally, if you want to make your White Elephant exchange a teachable moment, give the gift of herpes or chlamydia (not literally, of course). You can buy plush toys that mimic the appearance of these actual microbes and come with an image of the microscopic organism the toy was modeled after. Or, buy the entire set of microbes, which comes complete with a plush dose of penicillin.
