Find information about long-term use of toys

I’m new to this board so all of these answers may already be out there. My husband and I are currently in a long distance relationship due to work and family responsibilities. I’ve been dying to feel something inside of me since he left. We’ll use toys, of course. I’ve been thinking about wearing a vaginal plug long term. But I’m afraid of toxic shock syndrome. My husband wants to do vaginal cannulation like a long term cage. Again I’m worried about the health risks. So my question is, is it really safe to do something long term or am I setting ourselves up for danger for our health? If they are safe, can you tell me about some good toys that are reasonably priced?
