Priculais Japanese short for “Print Club,” a reference to the cute, fun, and girly photo booths you might find in arcades across the country. To celebrate the spooky season, some photo booths are giving you new looks that are more creepy than cute.
Haunted..photo booth?
The photo booth, called “Henna Puri” or “Strange Print,” is a collaboration between game company Furyu and famous Japanese horror novelist Uketsu. Uzuki is known for his previous works Strange Houses and Strange Paintings, so Strange Prints joins the series, albeit in a very different medium than his books.
The plot revolves around three girls who allegedly died in the stall before uttering the name “Hina-chan”. Booth users must then take photos inside the booth to uncover the mysteries of these deaths – and maybe even meet Hina herself. Once inside and using the machine, you can choose which suspicious death you want to investigate, but the mystery can only be solved by combining story pieces from all three paths.
The booth has all the trappings of a Japanese horror movie, including scary phone calls, strange shots and the resulting sense of dread. You can even use some limited-time stickers and frames on your photos to really give them a creepy vibe. In case you were wondering, yes, the machine can also take regular photos for those who want to be able to sleep peacefully without nightmares.
