Who has God made you to be?
I find myself asking this question all the time. I ask this question here, in sermons, and during counseling. I asked Lori, and I asked myself.
I think”who I am?” Probably the most important question in life, God has the only valid answer for those who follow Jesus. But many of us don’t seem to spend much time looking for the answer to this question.
Life will become more meaningful if you figure out who God says you are and become that person. Some parts might be easier. To be honest, some parts will be more difficult. But that would be a good thing.
The difficulty in figuring out who God created us to be is that there is a bigger voice telling us who we are. Your parents have strong opinions about this, and so do your children. Your wife knows who she wants you to be, and so do your friends. Your employer and/or employee has their own ideas about who you should be. Society has opinions, and so does the church. And probably most of it has nothing to do with God’s desires. Other ideas about who you should be are based on social norms and their needs, rather than what is right for you,
To be yourself is often to swim against the tide. But what God has for you is just upstream in this stream, so swim as hard as you can!
