David Miskin, Global Creative Director
In our Perfect Days column, we ask famous bosses to share how they can spend their ideal day in their hometown.
David Miskin is a creative executive, brand strategist, space designer and luxury goods expert. Although he usually separates his time between Tokyo and New York City, Japan has recently become his base as he is currently developing three hotel brands in the country, including seven X Seven, Fav and Favlux.
It’s what a perfect day in the city looks like to him:
My perfect day in Tokyo was…
I’m a morning person, probably due to a time zone juggling between the east and west. No matter how much I try to fall asleep, I always wake up very early. My day usually starts with walking to the kitchen for a cup of coffee. I prefer Dean & Deluca Beans – Unlike New York, one of the benefits of living in Tokyo is that Dean & Deluca still operates here. When I love coffee, I catch up with the news and emails the night before.
Next, I go to the private gymnasium. andat Minami-aoyama, do an hour of training and then prepare for the rest of the day.

After the workout, I will stop at my favorite breakfast order. Clinton St. Baking. The food and service are always great and although there is usually a line, it is worth the wait. My biggest challenge was choosing between seasonal pancakes and amazing sandwiches.

Next: There is no day in Tokyo, no stop Wolfman Barber Shop Do haircuts and shapes in roppongi. Ren, my designer, is very detailed and always manages to fit me. Quick trim, I’m ready for the day before.

I love seeking inspiration, especially through modern art and Japanese culture. So if we talk about our perfect day, we have to visit one of the many museums or art installations in Tokyo. I’ve been looking for the next great exhibition and one of my favorites is “The Miracle of Tiffany” Tokyo Node. Last week, I visited the Terence Conran exhibition Tokyo Station Gallery.

I would grab the ramen for lunch, and I like to do things that rarely have downtime. I’m often at business lunches, but when time allows, I can’t resist sneaking onto one of my secret ramen attractions – but I’m hiding them now!
To end the day, I will meet some friends for supper. I often meet with my close friend Shinji Takei (founder of Bingo Sports). He always introduces me to unique underground dinner orders. Recently, he took me there heart. Before dinner, we usually stop in his showroom to check out his latest limited edition collector car series. We have been in touch for years since I was creative for Lamborghini.

This is a glimpse of my perfect day in Tokyo – a balance of work, relaxation, inspiration and a good company that fills me with motivation and creativity.
The most freshest secret in Tokyo is…
Soba Kappo Sato It is a super exclusive, booked place only, and dinner is upgraded to art form. Seating is limited and quiet and elegant atmosphere, this is a hidden gem for Tokyo’s most discerning diners.
What I’ve always wanted to try is…
Aubrissava In Minami-aoyama. I’ve heard a lot about chef Yoshihiro Narisawa and his dedication to bringing nature to the plate.
