Cultivating Thriving Marriages in a Lukewarm World

Cultivating Thriving Marriages in a Lukewarm World

You can’t talk about life goals in front of people who don’t share the same desires as you. It will sound like you are bragging. ~Aubrey Drake

Someone posted this on Quora and I thought, yeah, that’s exactly right.

This has happened to me more than once when Lori and I were discussing our relationship or the growth we wanted in our marriage. We were told that we cared too much about our marriage and that we loved each other too much! Yes, really.

The reality is that the average temperature of a marriage is so low that anyone with a normal body temperature is accused of having a fever.

I’m not suggesting that you stop “bragging” about your marriage. Others need a push. When you’re accused of having a fever, just smile.

Beyond that, be aware that being surrounded by people who have a cold marriage temperature may cause you to slack off. Peer pressure pulls us toward the norm, even if the norm is in the wrong direction. Don’t let others convince you that there’s something wrong with you!
