Cheap BDSM Equipment - Using Hardware, Dollars and Thriftiness

Not everyone has hundreds or thousands of dollars to spend on a custom paddle, St. Andrew’s cross, or violet wand.

While there are many “beginner BDSM kits” on the market, most go beyond forty Dollar.

Good news for all you newbies, veterans, or curious people out there…

All you need is a trip to the hardware or dollar store and a little creativity.

At the Hardware Store

If you’re lucky you can also find some of these at the dollar store…

Adjustable C-clamp – If you want to tie someone down while they are standing, you can hang them on a door frame. Just make sure you know how and where to attach them. You will need about two and they cost about $6-10.

Carabiner/D-clip – Great for connecting ropes or chains together and untying them quickly. Each rope or chain costs less than a dollar.

Fishing lead sinker – Great for nipple weights. There are a variety of styles, but ball weights are sometimes called egg-shaped, bean-shaped, or ball sinkers. They come either in a bag or in a box. $10 or less.

Paint stirrer – Great for spanking or slapping your naughty little pupil’s hands. Take one or two Free if you can.

sandpaper – If you can’t find anything cheap at the hardware store, go to the dollar store. They may have some. Good for sensory play. 5 USD Give or take.

Double-ended snap hook – Another great thing to attach ropes or chains to. You can get nice brass ones for $10, but I’d go with the simple metal ones $1.25.

Wooden dowel – They come in a variety of widths and are great for spanking. The thicker ones (a little trickier) can be used as spreaders to keep your legs apart. You can buy a pack of TEN for about $10 USD 9.

Medical scissors – A must-have for any BDSM toolkit. Forget regular scissors. Medical scissors will free your partner from a restrained or dangerous situation much faster. They are $3 arrive 5 USD.

At the Dollar Store

You can probably make 99% of your BDSM kit from here…

Baby Oil – Ask your subordinates to give you a comfortable massage. Do no For internal lubrication!

Baby pacifier – humiliation, or for those who enjoy age play.

Bottle Brush – Gently brush along the skin for some fun sensory play… or brush harder for a more intense sensation. More sensory items include makeup brushes, paintbrushes, scouring pads, metal scouring pads, ice cube trays (for making ice), or Loofah.

Candlestick – Set up some mood lighting. The cheapest is a tea light holder.

Chopsticks or kebab – Place one on each side of your nipple and secure with a rubber band as a makeshift nipple clamp. Be careful with splinters.

clothespin – Also works with nipple clamps. Always test the pressure first. Some are too tight and may cause damage.

Dog Leashes and Collars – Perfect for your slave or pet to play with.

Spanking thing – You don’t need an expensive whip. Try Plastic cutting board, wooden spoon, spatula, beach sandals, icing knife, hairbrush, ruler, yardstick, ping pong paddle and fly swatter.

Dog or cat toys – More pet play products.

Feather duster – Tickling can be just as torturous… or making them clean their room because they are misbehaving. More options include Oil painting brush and Makeup brushes.

Pickle clip – Sounds scary, doesn’t it? Actually they are not that bad. Use them to clamp random locations and keep your subordinates on their toes.

Rubber Band – Yes, nipple clamps do, but they can also be used to break skin, and (if you’re really careful) C&B torture.

Ribbon – Not for tying people (unless you don’t tie the knot tightly and it’s more for aesthetics or photography purposes). Makes for a pretty collar. Why not a bell? Super cute!

Medical gloves – Whatever you like, you’ll need these – for applying lube etc, and you want to keep your hands clean without having to run to the bathroom. A must-have for any anal play.

padlock – Chain them together or lock them in a room because they are very naughty.

Wiffle Ball – Don’t have money for a ball gag? No worries. Just buy one, thread a string (or something) through the hole, and you’re done!

Zipper Chain – I’m not a fan of zip ties to tie people down, but overall they are very useful.

Wet wipes and rubbing alcohol – You need to clean the items and keep them sterile.

nylon button – If you have a DIY bent, this is an easy way to make wrist and ankle cuffs. If the cuffs are lined with soft material, they are very comfortable to wear and easy to remove in an emergency.

At a second-hand store

If they don’t have what you want, you need to be more patient and keep going back…

scarf – Makeshift eye mask. Tip: Lay the knot aside for more comfort. 1 – 2 USD.

Candlestick chart – If you don’t like the dollar store tea lights, you can find bigger, cooler ones. There are so many of them out there, they’re practically giving them away for free. If you’re artistic (or can infer the DIY stuff on Pinterest), you can dress them up to suit your dungeon style. If all else fails, spray paint. Great for mood lighting. 1 to 3 USD.

clothing – Either make your own whip, or make a cheap cosplay costume that can be destroyed. Prices will obviously vary.

belt- Different materials, textures and thicknesses. There’s no reason to buy just one. Take your pick. 1 – 2 USD.

Fake fur – It’s great for sensory play, or you could make a lightweight whip out of the material. Not sure how much it would cost you, but the fake ones are certainly a bargain.

Notes on bundling

There are many materials to choose from – each with its own advantages and disadvantages.

  • Hardware stores have all kinds of ropes, chains, etc., but you need Pay by feet or meters.
  • Dollar stores have the cheapest prices, but you won’t have as many choices.
  • You can save a ton of money on a dollar store tie or scarf, but they probably won’t be a sexy red or black…more likely to be a paisley print that your grandmother loved.

remember: Rough ropes are more likely to get tangled but can be more damaging to your skin. Softer materials like ties, scarves, and pantyhose are easier to get tangled but can be more risky.

Add to: A lovely reader suggested Pet Store As another source for buying detangling equipment. Keep an eye out for some great sales so you can stay within your budget (these places aren’t always necessarily cheap). Also, “super” stores will be better than expensive pet boutiques.
