Cafe is hot, the new first doomsday - 5 romantic New York City

Things are steaming in the coffee shop.

More and more singles are having their first date at New York City cafes instead of meeting to drink or full-blown dinners.

Staples like La Colombe have seen an increase in the initial dates that occur in their various locations. Danbi Lee, manager of the Bryant Park location, shared that they see about 10 to 12 dates a week at the location alone.

“Coffee shops, especially La Colombe in New York City and many others, provide a warm and safe environment for dates,” she told the Post. “Their relaxing atmosphere and attentive seating promote simple conversations, while the background music remains comfortable without the need to raise the sound in the bustling bar.”

As an employee who has witnessed a lot of coffee dates, Lee also notes that in addition to seeing the advantages of your date in the daytime and in a clear mind, these interactions can give you a deeper understanding of a person’s personality, such as how they respect cafes and cafe staff.

“Same, if you have value organization and cleanliness, be aware of how dates leave the table. Are they sorting themselves, returning to dirty dishes or disposing of garbage? These seemingly smaller habits often reflect how they maintain their personal space at home,” she said.

However, those on dates consider less subtle signs that potential suitors can take away from their coffee dates, and more on practicality.

“It’s not a promise, especially the first time I meet someone,” Jon Buret, 26, told The Post.

He explained that going out for supper was terrible, and when you’ve never seen the person before, it was “too stressful” – “and if you go on a coffee date, it goes well and you can pop it out of it, like dinner.”

The personal trainer was born and raised in New York and the people who advised rejecting Java Jam were motivated by ulterior motives.

“Personally, it gives the impression that they just want to get a free dinner instead of knowing someone,” he admitted, sharing that he was asking someone for one-on-one caffeine klatch to turn him down.

“They said they don’t accept the coffee date because they feel it’s a hard work,” he said. However, he admitted that the date of coffee was indeed “low effort, high reward”.

But the art of gatherings is related to execution.

Charlotte Craig, 27, told The Post that if she had never met someone before and they had only exchanged a few messages, she prefers coffee dates.

For new suitors who don’t have a rapport with you, she said, “coffee dates are great because they have low bets and can easily adjust the time,” she said. “If you do click, you can sit in the coffee shop for a few hours, but if the atmosphere is not there, you can get in and out in 30 minutes.”

But if you’ve been talking for a while, the exchange about espresso can also stand out because “very lazy, which means you’re just cheap.”

The environment is also an important factor that can make a coffee house date or damage a coffee house.

“Any place that isn’t a sterile metal table is great,” Craig said. “I want to sit on the sofa or a comfortable chair; otherwise, it feels like a job interview.”

For those who want a place to resonate with coffee dates, these are the five most romantic places in New York City.
