No more festive procrastination, my darlings. It’s Capricorn season.
On December 21, the sun moved from meaning-seeking Sagittarius to Capricorn, where it will remain until January 21. No matter your sun sign, this season will bring a boost of motivation to carry us into the new year and the stamina to get us through it.
Capricorn energy is all about pragmatic, organized, and determined. This cardinal earth sign knows how to get down to business, in every sense of the word, like no one else. Their love for work borders on fetishization, and they make it look easy. But it’s not just about epic looks. They would never, and I mean never, compromise their integrity along the way.
This is why the Nirvana Wand is the ultimate Capricorn tool. Hardworking, straight to the point. No nonsense, only power, gain and pleasure.
Think Dolly Parton, the quintessential Capricorn. Hardworking, can’t stand any inconvenience, has you in the palm of her hand from start to finish because she knows exactly how to work with her environment and everyone else to get the job done. And she works solely for fame. The point of that job is to take care of everyone else as much as she does herself. She’s generous beyond measure and the first to give back to her community. Because glitz, glamour, and *power* are all great, but Capricorn knows it’s what you do with that power that counts.
With Saturn, the planet of hard work and tough lessons, time and discipline, ruling this earth sign, it’s sometimes easy to mistake Capricorn’s integrity for austerity. But it’s this intensity and endurance that makes them capable of such greatness. Capricorn, represented by the sea goat, is an adaptable beast. This mysterious creature can swim to the deepest depths and scale the highest peaks if that’s what it takes to achieve the goal at hand. And they have the endurance to do both in the same day if that’s what it takes.
For many people (local restrictions permitting), this time of year is a time for reuniting with family and loved ones. With all of these reunions with people we haven’t seen in a while, it’s inevitable that we take a hard look back at the year—all that we’ve accomplished and all that we still have to accomplish. While Sagittarius season gave us the freedom to explore every corner of our possibilities, Capricorn season is all about taking everything we’ve learned over the past few weeks, months, and year and enjoying it. And then, once the party is over, we get back to work, applying all that learning to our causes.
Because, if nothing else, Capricorn knows how to work hard and play hard better than anyone else. And on that note, here are some tips for making the most of your Capricorn season:
Set goals (but don’t overdo it!)
It’s no wonder New Year’s resolutions fall around this time. Capricorn energy loves to set goals and strive to achieve them. But setting goals and achieving them are two different things.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. The last two years have been particularly challenging. If you’ve made it this far, that’s an accomplishment in itself! When describing your current aspirations, keep them gentle and modest so they’re easy to digest. While the energy of this time can be very goal-oriented, it’s more of a time of rest and digestion.
Make your lists from time to time and don’t worry too much if it takes a while to implement the actions. This will give you a reference point to see which seeds are really starting to grow in the spring.
Don’t forget to love yourself
I know I keep saying this every month, but it’s really important! And at this time of year, you’re at an especially high risk of putting others first and forgetting the importance of taking care of yourself.
The pitfalls of this time are Capricorn’s tendency to work too much and take care of everyone else before even considering themselves a priority. With all the pressures and expectations that come with the holiday season, it’s all too easy to fall into this trap.
Don’t fall into this trap.
I know your heart is huge and it is the season of giving, after all. But you won’t have much to offer your loved ones if you forget to love yourself. If you haven’t already, subscribe to the naughty list and treat yourself to festive gifts and fun giveaways, at our expense.
Explore your inner dad
It has nothing to do with dads and everything to do with those Big Daddy™ vibes, with a capital “D.”
What is a dad? Like Saturn, a dad is a stern but fair disciplinarian, an unapologetic parental figure with a deliciously tough protective side. Above all, a dad wants to take care of you.
For some, the daddy is a partner they aspire to have in a particular kink dynamic. For others, it’s a way to categorize certain types of crushes on people they’re attracted to.
But deep down, we all have a little dad energy in us and what I’m suggesting here is that we tap into that energy. You don’t need a partner to do this (but if you do, great). Be ruthless in your self-care and pursuit of pleasure this season. Buy this new vibrator and force yourself to use it even if you don’t think you’re in the mood. Book a massage for yourself to carve out an hour of time just for you. Try these new constraints and really let go with your partner. Again, yes, it is the season of giving. And that giving applies to you as well.
