A small ceramic pot was discovered in a forest near Bochnia in southern Poland, and a forest near Poland, containing more than 600 silver coins and four gold coins were found.

On March 16, when members of the Bochnia treasure hunting association Stater first discovered the ship, three loose coins fell off, all Silver Denarii minted by Casimir IV Jagiellon, the King of Poland and the Grand Duke of Lithuania (R. 1447-1492r. 1447-1492). The pot has a little damage to the edges, but the rest is intact, with more coins visible under the thin layer of soil.

Archaeologists at the Voivodiship in Bochnia and Stanisław Fischer Museum retrieved the pot. Experts from the AGHKraków University, the top technical university in Poland, were hired to dig carefully into the contents of the pot without causing damage.

When they first excavated the ship, the discoverers speculated that there might be 100 coins inside. It turns out that they underestimated the capacity of the small pot.

These included 592 silver Jagiellonian denarii, 26 three-type silver semi-school, and four gold medals cast during the reign of Sigismund of Luxembourg, who ruled the Hungarian emperors and the Hungarian and Bohemia kings from 1387 to 1437.

A tomography study of arrangement confirmed that Sir Golden was wrapped in linen, tied together with ropes and stacked under silver coins.

Experts say the hoard shows that the Boccinia region was once a vibrant hub for trade and economic activity.

Now, ceramic ships and coins will be preserved in the Stanisław Fischer Museum and will be displayed permanently after work is completed.
