“Liminal Wear” produced by Japanese fashion brand

Hatra creates clothing inspired by the concept of restriction – clothing that captures transitional moments, and boundaries begin to blur. Its design is shaped by the understanding of the human body always being constantly changing, moving and changing. Its outline is designed to make people feel ambiguous, consistent with the wearer and the way he moves in the world, with iridescent and ripples.

Hatra was founded by Nagami designer Keisuke, who studied in France and then gained experience at brands such as Martine Sitbon and Anne Valérie Hach. In 2010, he founded his own designer tag near Ryogoku, where he lives in Tokyo.

The label’s limits wear field of view explores perception through undulating shapes and textures. The Autumn and Winter 2025 series, titled “Walker,” expresses “cloths that swing in body and semantics.” Just as a single blink can change what is seen and invisible, the existence of the series changes with the wearer’s movement – ​​from the pleats of a chiffon dress to the way silver chains hang from the frame of the glasses.

My brand is…

The ever-evolving fashion label for both men and women. I studied high fashion technology in France and started my event in Tokyo in 2010. In recent years, Hatra has engaged in interdisciplinary collaborations, using modern digital craft tools to bridge other creative fields. These include [costume design for] Android Opera is an installation of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Canazze and is designed to support the ASICS development team of the Japanese national team at the Paris Olympics.

These activities, including our seasonal collections, form part of an ongoing exploration of the evolving relationship between humans and clothing, which are approached by computational tools and anthropological insights.

My world is…

Bondage. Restrictive refers to the state where social order is usually suspended – transition periods such as travel or festivals, where boundaries and identity feel fluent. When you stay in one place for too long, your risk is trapped in a regular relationship and your sense of self may begin to lose its flexibility. At Hatra, our goal is to evoke time and space through our clothes.

After years of research and hands-on practice, we have begun to see our work as a way to rediscover fashion design itself. More specifically, it’s about studying how humans dress and decorate themselves – but from a new perspective. This sense of miracles is our greatest source of inspiration, especially when we work with many different fields.

My best place to shop is…

Desperado – A long selection of shops, just outside the southern exit of Shibuya Station. It comes with a wide variety of domestic and international brands, and it’s always nice to have a romp, trendy interior. owner, [Eiichi] Izumi-san, curating choices with meticulous care, I discover something new on every visit.

delta – Delta is a concept store in Yoyogi-Uehara. It has two stores within a few minutes’ walk, one of which is Delta’s breath, always hosting new exhibitions. I’ve been looking forward to seeing the owner’s mixed style, [Aya] Okura-san, on Instagram.

House @ Mikiri Hasin – A shop tucked in a renovated vintage Japanese house, hidden behind a magnetic sarto. It retains the warmth of traditional architecture while expressing a unique worldview. The store started shipping Hatra from the earliest days.
