Son of Shinobu It needs no introduction, especially if you’ve been an avid anime watcher for the past few years. Created by Akasaka Akasaka and Yokoya Mengo, the manga-based anime tells the story of twins who are reincarnated as the children of famous Japanese pop idols and how they deal with the dark side of the entertainment industry. Now the series is gearing up for a live-action drama.
Idol’s life
The live-action series is a joint project between Amazon and Toei Animation. According to reports, the cast includes Nogizaka46’s former idol Saito Asuka and actor, model and former drummer Kaito Sakurai. B-Komachi also composed an original song, a snippet of which you can hear in the series trailer.
In the newly exposed promotional poster for the live-action drama, the protagonist Ai Hoshino is wearing the iconic pink idol costume, as well as the new generation of B-Komachi, Arima Kana, MEMcho and Hoshino Ruby. The bright and sparkling nature of these two images immediately contrasts with the dark and gloomy images of Mizu Hoshino and Akane Kurokawa. This duality also plays into the theme of the story, showing the glitz and glamor of the industry, as well as the darker side behind it.
Where to watch the live-action series “Son of Shinobu”
this Son of Shinobu The live-action TV series will be released globally on Amazon Prime Video on November 28, 2024. The follow-up movie to the series will be released in Japanese cinemas on December 20.
