About the new butt plug

Bought myself a new butt plug (my first toy). It is T-shaped, but it is wider when viewed from one side. So I’m wondering, which way to put it in? Should the wider or thicker parts face forward? I also bought a prostate massager, but I can barely feel the vibration. Is this the case or should it feel more intense?
