Dental fetish – a subset of the larger “medical fetish”.
However, when I searched the term, I found a problem – it was mostly about porn, well, all porn, actually. There wasn’t a lot of guidance or advice – especially for beginners or the curious.
So here is a list of some items you can use to make your roleplay more realistic.
1. Uniform
If you don’t want to buy them, you don’t have to. A white fitted jacket and white pants will do (you can be as fancy as you want). You can even just wear a regular medical scrubs. However, there are many options in stores or online that are cheaper and you can get a more realistic jacket set.
2. Medical masks
They are super cheap and you can buy them in small or large quantities. Don’t worry about having extras as I’ve always found them to be very useful for non-sexual uses as well.
3. Bib and hook
These are the tissue-like things they hang around your neck. You can buy a pack of them on Amazon for a really low price. However, if you don’t want to spend the extra money (or can’t), just use any piece of white cloth, napkin, or similar alternative and secure them in place with safety pins or small clothespins.
4. Gloves
Just like masks, glove sales have been mixed, but they’re extremely useful, and if you’re going to be playing with someone’s mouth (or anywhere else), you’ll need them for hygiene and safety.
5. Irrigation syringe
It’s a syringe without a needle that’s used to deliver a fine stream of water between your teeth to help clean them. You can fill it with water, vodka, salt water, or anything else that’s pleasant, stinging, or unpalatable.
6. Lip retractor
Yes, there are metal versions (great for sterilization), but if you’re on a smaller budget you can buy cheaper plastic versions online. I find these are a great extra step when playing with medical themes – they’re like a reverse ball gag, adding an element of bondage or restriction.
7. Mouthwash
There are cheap and easy extra ingredients you can add. Whatever you consider “mouthwash” is up to you – like the liquid in the douche syringe, it can be delicious or horrible (as long as it’s safe). If you’re going to make your own, think ahead and keep a mouthwash bottle and fill it up.
8. Whitening Kit
I like these because it gives you something to actually do with your teeth/mouth, plus it gives you lots of extra “equipment” to expand your collection. They look awesome on a tray (yes, get a stainless steel tray if you can).
9. Basic cleaning kit
These tools include things like toothpicks and mirrors, which are essential for dental exams. Scrapers and toothpicks can be particularly daunting. Always make sure not to cause any involuntary injury – the mouth is dirty and can easily become infected.
10. Dental mirror
If you could only take one tool out of your basic tool kit it would be a mirror, and they can only be used to manipulate your tongue and lips.
11. Impression Tray
They are made of stainless steel or silicone and make excellent medical “ball mouths.” If your subordinate does want to have dental impressions taken during treatment, there are materials available online for this – just be sure to read the instructions carefully.
12. Surgery telescope
Unless you’re a dentist, they don’t really serve any purpose, but they look great as part of a uniform. You can get them as cheap or expensive as you like (I’ve seen them for under $20 in a few places).
13. Water/air sprayer
Now we are moving out of the cheap zone and into the more expensive products. Water sprayers are the next step up from irrigation syringes. You can buy home versions (called water picks) or you can buy dental products that provide both air and water.
14. Electric Toothbrush
Polishing tools and polish are both very expensive, but you can get a more affordable version with an electric toothbrush and toothpaste. If you want to spend a little more money, you can get a small glass container that you can put the toothpaste in (instead of a tube).
15. Ultrasonic dental scaler
This is one of the tools that makes the high pitched “Whiirrr” sound, the other is a drill, but you won’t be using that because it’s too dangerous for the inexperienced.
The purpose of this tool is to remove tartar/plaque from the base of the teeth (around the gums), etc. However, your purpose is just to make it sound and add ambience.
notes: Unless you are trained in the use of this tool, do not attempt to clean anyone’s teeth. The vibrations can actually cause a contaminated mist to be ejected from a person’s mouth. This can also affect some pacemakers. Do your research first!
