Woman rejects boyfriend’s proposal
She doesn’t like it, so don’t wear the ring.
In an age where people are spending upwards of $20,000 on proposals, one woman is complaining about the Walmart engagement ring her boyfriend gave her for less than $1,000, but for a reason you might not expect.
Like many young people these days, a woman named Priscilla (@prissyxoxo25) shared a screenshot of a text message conversation with her fiancé, a photo of the $898 ring he proposed to, and posed the question: “What do you guys think about this? I’m curious.”
Judging from the screenshot, Priscilla rejected her man, leaving him confused and embarrassed. But the reason behind her decision had more to do with him not listening to her needs.
“I’ve told you more than once about the kind of ring I want and you show up with something from Walmart… Taylor, if you know what I want and still choose to do the simplest thing, you don’t really hear me. I want to feel chosen, not just proposed to,” she texted.
You have to give credit where credit is due – she knows what she wants and stands up for herself.
The Washington Post reached out to Priscilla for comment.
Some comments on the post sided with the boyfriend.
“Girl…what the hell is wrong with you??? Damn it. I hate that I have to side with men.”
“Avoid women who care more about rings than proposals.”
But many others sympathized with Priscilla’s feelings.
“No, she’s here legally. It’s not about the ring, it’s about listening.”
“I’m sorry, but my promise ring is worth $1,000, and it’s exactly what I want in a gold ring with diamonds, and it has nothing to do with the price. So I’ve learned that a person who really listens is someone who does exactly what you say and puts in the work.”
And she’s not the only one who rolls her eyes at the rings men propose to her with.
“Help – I hate my ring,” the anonymous future bride said on Facebook. “My fiancé proposed to me out of the blue. I appreciated the gesture, but I hated the ring.”
“I thought it would grow on me. It took me a week. I feel sad every time I see it. It’s not me at all,” she continued, sharing two snaps of the jaw-dropping gem. “Circles, halos, pave strips. I would go for the complete opposite.”
The frustrated fiancée complained that her man never asked her, or even her friends, what type of ring she wanted.
“I changed the shape of my nails from square to fit the design, thinking if I had round nails I would prefer the round hoops. But it didn’t work.”
