What is the whole hype about yoga? Is it really good for you?

Just 12 years ago, my husband convinced me to attend a yoga class. Before that, I only attended a yoga class once. I’ve signed up for Bikram’s 90-minute hot yoga class and it was very stylish at the time. I don’t like it at all. The high temperature and strict teaching style have kept me away from yoga for many years!

I have always been an active woman, but I prefer a more fulfilling form of exercise. Of course, as the years develop, with this thinking, injury, muscle soreness and pain manifestations! My “type A” personality worked hard to figure this out. I was told that yoga classes will provide helpful stretching exercises and my fitness routines are rarely included. This will help me hit the ongoing guard and knee issues.

So, what did I notice early on when I incorporate yoga into my life?

My first visit was a comfortable room temperature of 30 degrees Celsius. The class went smoothly and I was satisfied with my ability to achieve most of the postures. It’s great that you can wear what you want and everything is acceptable.

Participate in the course of body types in various shapes and sizes. It is amazing to see that everyone at every age has different flexibility. There are many yogas, including hata, yin, strength, heat, and others. Everyone has something to make the intimidating factor stand out from beginners.

Looking around makes me wonder if this is a good environment for potential dates for my clients. The proportion of female participants is higher, but it does depend on the course you take. (I noticed a lot of men taking strength and popular courses.)

Many studios have a seating area. Here everyone can enjoy a cup of tea or relaxing rest before or after class. This allows Some mixing time Learn about some other yoga lovers. Most people have yoga programs and take certain classes regularly, so there is a good chance that you will see the same person frequently. This leads to Hellos and SIt’s like you see these familiar faces. OK, enough conversation.

Back to my first yoga class…

I did it all my hour without falling or passing out. I couldn’t believe I was even allowed to take a nap at the last, called “Shavasana”. Now we are talking about it! After my first class, I agreed to give yoga more time and then purchased a 2-week pass. This allows us to take as many courses as possible in that time frame. We did manage to reach 14 days for 7 days.

I swear the only thing that lets me teach is the infrared sauna. After every hour of yoga, I really like it. This is a reward for getting me back. I read that in this therapeutic sauna, you may lose 300 calories in about 30 minutes. Of course, it’s better to balance my way on one leg or by core exercise! It sounds like a civilized way to lose weight for me.

Besides complaining, we decided to purchase another 3 months pass and continue with the new exercise routine. My husband is just one “Outdoor Man” This tranquil atmosphere was found on his hills. In my case, the jury was still out of here, but I decided to move on. I want to see if 90 days will bring any improvement. Especially after my past knee surgery and physical illnesses associated with them! (I have never had a healthy knee since I was a kid.)

Within two months, I did notice that there was no pain in my lower back. My last 20 years as a flight attendant have caused damage to my health. I kept lifting the passenger bag, pushing the heavy trolley, and reaching 3 seats to ride the passenger tray from the window seat. (I guess this has been corrected because many airlines are not dining these days!)

I started to have greater flexibility and my body overall became more and more dimming. This also made me forget about the other troubles for an hour. There are many challenging postures with too much concentration. You really don’t have time to think about anything else. Even in the early stages of perfecting these postures, it was a very peaceful atmosphere.

OK, so what are the benefits, why is yoga so popular?

  1. Yoga raises the whole body at once. It hits every muscle group within hours.
  2. It also keeps your internal engine running. These positions help digestion, constipation problems and metabolism. It’s like the plug-in drain has been released. Everything works better. (My husband likens it to be stretched out after years of kinking like a garden hose!)
  3. Yoga also acts as Silent therapist, Helps clear away confusion and negative thoughts. It can illuminate your mood and confidence.
  4. It can help you gain flexibility, which is very important as you age.
  5. Your skin becomes clearer and smoother thanks to the release of toxins from the posture. (Especially in popular courses!)

Where am I today after my first yoga experience?

I had a knee replacement in November 2023 and was very worried that it might slow down my activity permanently. After the operation, I quickly persevered and resumed some flexible exercises at the request of my surgeon. He firmly believes that I do all the prescribed exercises every day. I made great strides in my recovery and returned to yoga two months later. Before that, I was using a horizontal bike and an elliptical machine to get the required range of motion in my knees.

I now go to hot yoga 3 times a week. (I found the power class on my shoulders worked so hard.) I’ve been in the 30-day yoga challenge in April for 14 days. I still include my spin bike routine and weightlifting training in my local gym. For me, the combination of the two is a perfect, comprehensive fitness program. I am happier and have few mood swings because I am healthier too. I met some great people and had a bunch of good women I had with.

As a dating instructor, I wouldn’t say that the yoga studio is the first place you meet with a potential partner. But yoga works wonders for your body and mindset. It can definitely help you feel happy about who you are and build confidence. Yoga helps improve any deflated self-image! When you feel good, you look good and it will naturally attract people to you.

I’m still there 12 years later and now I almost love yoga. Oh, I have more husbands than my husband for more than two years! He chose to go outdoors with his bike group.

Yoga can be expensive, but there are many free videos to choose from on YouTube. Another great thing is that you can do it anywhere while traveling. I pointed out to go to the yoga studio in any city I was going to. I have learned to appreciate this lifestyle very much and highly recommend including yoga throughout your life. You will be very satisfied with the results and I can assure you.
